The default order of the WordPress admin menu may be essentially fine, but it\u2019s not custom built for your preferences. Maybe you have a site that rarely uses Posts, and so instead of having the Post button at the top of your menu, you\u2019d rather have Pages at the top.<\/p>\n

Or maybe there are menu items that you basically never use, and so they just clutter things up and get in the way. Why not hide them?<\/p>\n

Or maybe you\u2019d like to create new menu items to suit your particular situation and link it wherever you like.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a plugin that can fix all that quite easily \u2013 the Admin Menu Editor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nHow It Works<\/b><\/h2>\n

With the Admin Menu Editor you can easily drag and drop your menu items into whichever order you like. But you can do more than that. You can hide menus, change access rights, create new menu items, and even add icons.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at it in action.<\/p>\n

Drag and drop the menus into the order you’d like.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a quick example. You can see the original menu on the left, and my newly created menu on the right. You\u2019ll notice that I moved the Pages menu up. I put another divider into the menu to separate my Pages and Media menus from items below it, and I\u2019ve hidden the Links menu.<\/p>\n

You can also edit submenus. When you choose a menu on the left side of the settings page, if the menu has submenus, they will appear on the right side of the settings page \u2013 where you can edit them.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s a look at a custom menu item that I created. These custom menus can go anywhere \u2013 either to a part of your site or even offsite.<\/p>\n

This plugin makes it very easy to customize your menus to suit your preferences. You can do it on the front end of your site for your visitors, so why not do it on back end to suit yourself?<\/p>\n
