They also have a nice recipe style theme and a nice restaurant style theme.\r\n\r\nThat said, they are a little expensive, especially for developers, who can expect to pay about $200 up front and then over $200 a year for on-going support. They currently maintain roughly 55 of those themes.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Cost<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Single<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individual themes are $75 each. Support and updates are included for 12 months, and you are free to use the theme on multiple domains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extended<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-right cgrid-col-span-3\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col-wide-right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-ratio-3-2 wp-image-121471\" alt=\"pricing2\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/pricing2-448x207.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"207\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The \u201cExtended License\u201d is $125, and this option includes picking up a second theme for free. And so, in essence, it\u2019s two themes for $125. PSD Photoshop files are included with this option. 12 months of support and updates are also included, and you can use the themes on multiple domains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A \u201cWPZoom Membership\u201d is $199 + $19\/mo. This gives you access to all 53 themes plus at least one new theme per month. PSD Photoshop files, support, and regular updates are also included; however, if you cancel your membership, then updates and support are terminiated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\"><\/div>\n<h2><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-right cgrid-col-span-3\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col-wide-right\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-121450\" alt=\"zoom-collection\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/zoom-collection-448x336.jpg\" width=\"401\" height=\"302\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Of the 50-some active themes at WPZoom, 26 are responsive. Given the importance of mobile these days, I personally only consider mobile themes when looking at a theme developer\u2019s offerings. You may disagree with that approach, but there it is. And so the info below pertains to the 26 mobile themes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WPZoom Framework<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every WPZoom theme comes with the WPZoom Framework built in. While this will allow you to control some basic settings, it doesn\u2019t go so far as to allow dragging and dropping, for example. You do, however, get the choice of a full-width layout, even with Posts.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"framework\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/framework-700x558.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"558\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>To give you an idea, here\u2019s a partial list of some things you can control through a theme\u2019s settings pages:<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>featured slider<\/li>\n<li>excerpt length<\/li>\n<li>thumbnail displays<\/li>\n<li>font control<\/li>\n<li>banner areas<\/li>\n<li>basic SEO<\/li>\n<li>header and footer code areas<\/li>\n<li>slideshows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll notice above things like \u201cfeatured slider\u201d and \u201cslideshow.\u201d These built-in functions tend to be very nice in WPZoom themes.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an example.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-span-full\">\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-span-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-ratio-large wp-image-121453\" alt=\"featured-slider2\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/featured-slider2-700x502.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"502\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>Shortcodes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some don\u2019t like to use shortcodes provided by themes. If you ever change your theme, all that breaks. But WPZoom offers the following shortcodes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>button creation<\/li>\n<li>icon links<\/li>\n<li>info boxes<\/li>\n<li>column layouts<\/li>\n<li>special list styles<\/li>\n<li>social buttons<b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Content-Rich Designs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WPZoom seems to shine especially bright when handling a lot of different content in a small space. Magazine-type themes, for example, come to mind. Somehow they manage to pack in the content while still seeming clean and ordered.<\/p>\n<p>A quick glance at their collection also confirms that many of their themes fit this style of designs for content-heavy sites.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not to say that their more minimalistic themes are of a lesser quality. The settings, while mostly basic, let you easily do things that many people want, such as enable a featured post area, activate slideshows, turn dates on or off, etc.<\/p>\n<p>About as complicated as WPZoom controls get are with things such as controlling a slideshow or creating a button with the built-in shortcode function.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at the slideshow controls. I asked several questions in the forum, and I also asked a presales question through email. \u00a0In both cases I received a prompt reply.<\/p>\n<p>I asked questions both on the weekend and during the week, and in my case anyway, it didn\u2019t seem to make much of a difference. Once I received an answer with 25 minutes. Another time it was answered within 5 \u00bd hours.<\/p>\n<p>Although only a staff of 7, never did it take more than 12 hours to get a question answered.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Speed<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>In order to test the speed, I ran a few themes through <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/insights\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google\u2019s Page Speed Insights tool<\/a>. These tests should be taken with a grain of salt. Some of what it measures may have little to do with the theme.<\/p>\n<p>That said, the few themes I checked out did very well. Google says that a score over 85 is very good. Many themes I\u2019ve tested in the past haven\u2019t come close to that.
