However, we include new areas to backup to regularly (e.g. Dropbox), and it\u2019s worth mentioning, in case you weren\u2019t aware of this feature.<\/p>\n<p>And as you\u2019ll see in this short article, adding a backup to third-party storage can be done in just a few clicks!<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-542-_91wszb60cfc0\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Getting Started<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, to get started, you\u2019ll need <a href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/project\/snapshot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snapshot Pro<\/a>. Snapshot Pro is free with a WPMU DEV membership. (Not a member? Check out our no-risk membership <a href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/pricing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free trial<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>After installing and activating, you\u2019re ready to go! Kick things off by heading to the <strong>Destinations<\/strong> area. Get to this area from Snapshot\u2019s dashboard or by clicking Destinations on the sidebar.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201181\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201181\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/destinations-area-from-dashboard.png\" alt=\"Where to access the destinations area.\" width=\"600\" height=\"475\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Destinations are easy to get to from the dashboard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From either the dashboard or the Destinations area, clicking on the big blue <strong>Add Destination<\/strong> button will get you moving.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201182\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201182\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/add-destination.png\" alt=\"Button to add a destination.\" width=\"600\" height=\"453\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Get ready to add a new destination in one click.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You\u2019re now ready to&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-542-_ab93jeeccp03\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Choose Your 3rd Party Service<\/h2>\n<p>Once clicking Add Destination, you\u2019ll choose what new destination you want a full copy of each backup to go to. As mentioned earlier, you can choose from <strong>Amazon S3<\/strong>, <strong>Google Drive<\/strong>, <strong>OneDrive,<\/strong> and <strong>Dropbox<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For the sake of demonstrating how Snapshot\u2019s backup works, let\u2019s go with <strong>Dropbox<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_212737\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-212737 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Screen-Shot-2022-09-26-at-1.47.52-PM.png\" alt=\"The dropbox destination.\" width=\"952\" height=\"1088\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Just select Dropbox as your option.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once selected, you\u2019ll hit <strong>Next,<\/strong> and you\u2019ll go through an authentication process. Hit <strong>Authenticate<\/strong>, and then Snapshot\u00a0will then ask you to sign in however you prefer to do with Dropbox (e.g. email, Google, or Apple).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201184\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201184\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/dropbox-sign-in.png\" alt=\"Where to sign in for Dropbox.\" width=\"600\" height=\"590\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pick whatever way works best for you to sign in.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to give Snapshot permission to edit, view content, and view &amp; edit information. Snapshot will let you know if it\u2019s successful or not. If all is well, you&#8217;ll continue on by clicking <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201187\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201187\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/successful-connection.png\" alt=\"Message about Snapshot being successfully connected.\" width=\"600\" height=\"370\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The green indicates it\u2019s good to go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Snapshot then shows you the connected account. From here, you can name a Directory and set the number of backups that you want to store before removing older ones. This name is so you can easily remember where backups are stored.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201189\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201189\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/destination-name.png\" alt=\"Where you save the destination.\" width=\"600\" height=\"358\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">We\u2019ll label this destination \u2018Snapshot\u2019 as well.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Got it named? Great! Click <strong>Save Destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-542-_c5rscy358plh\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Your New Destination<\/h2>\n<p>Once doing so, you\u2019ll now see the new Dropbox destination in Snapshot\u2019s Destinations area. It includes the<strong> Dropbox logo<\/strong>, <strong>Directory name<\/strong>, <strong>schedule<\/strong>, and amount of <strong>exported backups.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201190\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201190\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/new-destinations-for-dropbox.png\" alt=\"Where the destination is located.\" width=\"600\" height=\"471\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Snapshot keeps a running total of destinations on top of the page, too.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Click the <strong>gear icon<\/strong> to edit the destination, view the directory, or delete.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201191\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201191\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/gear-icon.png\" alt=\"The gear icon.\" width=\"600\" height=\"471\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Need to edit? You can quickly do so from here!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You can also turn this off or on with a click of a switch. Otherwise, that\u2019s it! You\u2019ll see the name of your Dropbox destination folder (in this case, I named it Snapshot) and view it by <strong>All<\/strong>, <strong>Warning<\/strong>, or <strong>Error<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_201192\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201192\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/backups.png\" alt=\"A list of the backups.\" width=\"600\" height=\"626\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">You can see this is showing all the logs.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It shows all the information you need to know about what occurred during the backup.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-542-_oxdou112rqjo\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Storing to 3rd Party Backups Is a Snap(shot)<\/h2>\n<p>The flexibility of choosing where your backups land, whether it be with S3, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox &#8212; is up to you.
