Now they are all grouped in one section, which saves time and effort. And looks spiffy, too!<\/p>\n<p>You can access Notifications two different ways, from the WordPress dashboard main menu:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hummingbird<\/strong>, then scroll down (last module on right)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hummingbird<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Notifications<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203537\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-ratio-full wp-image-203537\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/001-notification-module-two-ways-1050x766.png\" alt=\"Hummingbird notification module, two ways.\" width=\"1050\" height=\"766\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Two options for getting to the <strong>Notifications<\/strong> module.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Click on the <strong>Manage Notifications<\/strong> button to access settings.<\/p>\n<p>To create a new Notification for any report type, click the <strong>plus +<\/strong> icon from the desired notification type row. You can set the <em>Frequency <\/em>(daily, weekly, or monthly), the <em>Day, <\/em>and the <em>Time <\/em>you\u2019d like the report to run.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduling options for <strong>Uptime Notifications<\/strong> is a single setting only, for <em>Threshold<\/em>. This enables you to trigger email notifications based on the amount of time your site is down (5, 10, or 30 minutes).<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-span-full\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_203539\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203539 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/003-notification-uptime-threshold-1050x550.png\" alt=\"Threshold uptime notifications\" width=\"1050\" height=\"550\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Choose what <strong>Threshold<\/strong> time will trigger email notifications when your site is down.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Note that any recipients for Uptime Notifications will receive an email invitation to subscribe, and must confirm that subscription (via the clickable link) in order to receive them.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203540\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-ratio-full wp-image-203540\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/004-notification-confirm-subscription-1050x455.png\" alt=\"Notification confirm subscription\" width=\"1050\" height=\"455\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Subscribers who\u2019ve not yet accepted your <strong>Uptime<\/strong> invite (pending) will have a stopwatch icon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For notifications you\u2019ve already set up, you will see a blue <strong>Enabled <\/strong>status and a cog icon instead of a plus sign. Click the cog icon to <em>Reconfigure<\/em>\u2015or <em>Disable<\/em>\u2015any notification, and simply revise at will using the same wizard you originally set it up through.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203541\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-ratio-full wp-image-203541\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/005-notification-configure-1050x193.png\" alt=\"Notification configure\" width=\"1050\" height=\"193\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reconfiguring is as easy as a few clicks.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><a id=\"post-1133-_eq78wcsh856o\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Performance Reports Get a Greenlight for Subsites*<\/h3>\n<p>Performance reports have been a part of prior Hummingbird versions. However, now this option is also available in every subsite in multisite installs.<\/p>\n<p>You can schedule regular performance tests of your site and send reports of the data to any recipients you desire. These can be for desktop only, mobile only, or both. You can also specify the test Results you want included in your reports: <em>Score Metrics, Audits, <\/em>and<em> Historic Field Data<\/em>.<\/p>\n<video loop muted autoplay playsinline class='dev-html5-video'><source src=\" https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/2vid-performance-test-report-email.webm\" type=\"video\/webm\"><\/video>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><small> Sample Performance report delivered via email.<\/small><\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-1133-_k9gt8qi9i7k0\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Schedule Database Cleanups, &amp; Get Reports*<\/h3>\n<p>This feature will allow you to schedule regular cleanups of your database, and send reports with this information to recipients of your choosing.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Database Cleanup<\/strong> settings enable you to specify which <strong>Tables <\/strong>should be included in your scheduled cleanups and corresponding reports. The options are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post Revisions<\/li>\n<li>Draft Posts<\/li>\n<li>Trashed Posts<\/li>\n<li>Spam Comments<\/li>\n<li>Trashed Comments<\/li>\n<li>Expired Transients<\/li>\n<li>All Transients<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To set up, navigate to the Hummingbird Notifications module. Then from the <strong>Database Cleanup<\/strong> row, click on the <strong>plus +<\/strong> sign.<\/p>\n<p>From the <strong>Scheduling <\/strong>window, select <em>Frequency, Day, <\/em>and <em>Time<\/em>, then click the <strong>Continue <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203542\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203542 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/006-database-cleanup-schedule-1050x479.png\" alt=\"Database cleanup schedule\" width=\"1050\" height=\"479\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Choose your desired options in the <strong>Scheduling<\/strong> window.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Next is the <strong>Recipients <\/strong>window. Add people one at a time\u2015from site users, or invite by email\u2015then click the <strong>Add Recipient<\/strong> button after each. Check the boxes for the <strong>Tables <\/strong>you\u2019d like to include (likewise, uncheck any to exclude), then click the <strong>Activate <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203544\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203544 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/008-database-cleanup-customize-1050x582.png\" alt=\"Database cleanup customize\" width=\"1050\" height=\"582\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">You get to decide which <strong>Tables<\/strong> you\u2019d like to be in the Database Cleanup report.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>That\u2019s it! You can view or revise your settings anytime from the Notifications section of the dashboard module in Hummingbird.<\/p>\n<p>Click here for full documentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/docs\/wpmu-dev-plugins\/hummingbird\/#notifications\" target=\"_blank\">Notifications in Hummingbird<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>*Reports are available in the Pro version of Hummingbird only.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-1133-_u8yxn4958p4w\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>Browser Caching Setup is a Wiz with This Automation<\/h3>\n<p>The new Browser Caching wizard will get you set up properly, and is a cinch to use.<\/p>\n<p>If your site is hosted with WPMU DEV, Browser Caching has already been configured and no further action is needed.<\/p>\n<p>To access the wizard, navigate to <strong>Hummingbird &gt; Caching &gt; Browser Caching<\/strong>, then click on the <strong>Configure <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-grid cgrid-row\">\n<div class=\"cgrid-col cgrid-col-span-full\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_203545\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203545 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/009-browser-caching-wizard-1050x293.png\" alt=\"Browser caching wizard\" width=\"1050\" height=\"293\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hummingbird\u2019s <strong>Browser Caching wizard<\/strong> makes setup a breeze.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The first step is <strong>Choosing Server Type<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Hummingbird will automatically detect the server type used by your site, however you can manually select another option if need be. (If you have <em>CloudFlare <\/em>integration enabled, the wizard will skip this step.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203546\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203546 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010-browser-cache-server-type-1050x531.png\" alt=\"Browser cache server type\" width=\"1050\" height=\"531\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Server type<\/strong> is automatically detected in the browser caching wizard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Click the <strong>Next<\/strong> button to proceed to step two, <strong>Set Expiry Time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here you can select <em>All file types<\/em> or <em>Individual file types<\/em>, along with more than a dozen incremental time frames ranging from one hour to one year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203547\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-203547 size-ratio-full\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/011-browser-cache-expiry-time-1050x391.png\" alt=\"Browser cache expiry time\" width=\"1050\" height=\"391\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s ideal to <strong>Set Expiry Time<\/strong> to the longest value possible.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Click the <strong>Next<\/strong> button to proceed to step three: <strong>Add Rules<\/strong> for your server type.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_203548\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" data-caption=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-ratio-full wp-image-203548\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/012-browser-cache-applying-rules-1050x499.png\" alt=\"Browser cache applying rules\" width=\"1050\" height=\"499\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">If you have enabled <em>CloudFlare<\/em> integration, the wizard will apply the rules directly to your CF account for this site, and no further action will be required.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On <strong>Apache<\/strong> servers, the wizard will attempt to apply the browser caching rules automatically to the <em>.htaccess<\/em> file.<\/p>\n<p>However, if your <em>.htaccess<\/em> file is not writable or if the wizard encounters unexpected issues, you\u2019ll be prompted to copy &amp; paste the code generated by the wizard. Once done, click the <strong>Check Status<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p>If your site is running on any of the below servers (and not hosted by WPMU DEV), Hummingbird cannot automatically configure browser cache, so you will need to set it up manually. Contact your hosting provider if you\u2019re not sure what server your site is running on.<\/p>\n<p>Guidance for setting up other server options, follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>OpenLitespeed <\/strong>\u2013 see this <a href=\"https:\/\/openlitespeed.org\/kb\/how-to-autoload-htaccess-with-openlitespeed\/\" target=\"_blank\">OpenLiteSpeed guide<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nginx<\/strong> \u2013 manually add the required rules to your <em>nginx.conf<\/em> file, usually located at <em>\/etc\/nginx\/nginx.conf<\/em> or <em>\/usr\/local\/nginx\/nginx.conf<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>IIS7<\/strong> (or above) \u2013 manually add the required rule following this <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/previous-versions\/windows\/it-pro\/windows-server-2008-r2-and-2008\/cc732475(v=ws.10)\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft guide<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At any time during this process, you can go back a step by clicking the <strong>Previous <\/strong>button, or click the <strong>Quit Setup<\/strong> button to exit the wizard.<\/p>\n<p>Click here for full documentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/docs\/wpmu-dev-plugins\/hummingbird\/#browser-cache\" target=\"_blank\">Adding Rules in Browser Caching<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"post-1133-_ksp7inizl2q\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>WP Ultimo Now Has Page Cache Integration<\/h3>\n<p>Hoorah for WP Ultimo users! This new feature is automatic, so you won&#8217;t see the settings for it, but rest assured we&#8217;ve got you covered.<\/p>\n<p>Hummingbird automatically works behind the scenes to ensure cache is cleared on domain-mapped subsites, as it should be.<\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"post-1133-_vdj4xbrszfne\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a>One Last Enhancement (Hint: AO)<\/h2>\n<p>There is one last enhancement in this version release\u2026<\/p>\n<p>You can now change the file location for <strong>Asset Optimization<\/strong> in multisite.<\/p>\n<p>This allows you to choose where Hummingbird should store your modified assets.
