Where do they get this notion? Is it because <a title=\"BuddyPress\" href=\"http:\/\/buddypress.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BuddyPress<\/a> sounds so similar to <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/extend\/plugins\/bbpress\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bbPress<\/a>? Let me just clear this up right now: <strong>BuddyPress is more than a forum!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One quick glance at the <a href=\"http:\/\/buddypress.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BuddyPress.org<\/a> website will show you all of its core features on the front page:<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox[59013]\" class=\"blog-thumbnail\" href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/bp-features.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-59014\" title=\"bp-features\" src=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/bp-features.png\" alt=\"Post image\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"724\" height=\"578\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;m posting this blog for anyone who googles:<\/p>\n<h3>Is BuddyPress just a forum?<\/h3>\n<p>The answer is <b>no!<\/b> It&#8217;s got ever so many more cool features, which do happen to include some basic bbPress forums or the option to integrate a full bbPress forum using the bbPress plugin. Yes, I know that&#8217;s a confusing sentence if you&#8217;re new to all of these plugins. Hopefully this blog will set you straight:<\/p>\n<h3>BuddyPress Core Features:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Activity Streams<\/li>\n<li>Extended Profiles<\/li>\n<li>Private Messaging<\/li>\n<li>Friend Connections<\/li>\n<li>Extensible Groups<\/li>\n<li>WordPress Blogging<\/li>\n<li>Discussion Forums &#8211; <i>powered by a limited version of bbPress<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What&#8217;s the difference between BuddyPress and bbPress?<\/h3>\n<p>BuddyPress is a social networking plugin for WordPress, which includes all of the core features listed above. bbPress is forum software now available as a plugin for WordPress. It integrates well with virtually any WordPress theme and has a good number of <a href=\"https:\/\/wpmudev.com\/blog\/5-new-plugins-that-extend-the-bbpress-plugin-for-wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">add-on plugins<\/a> that will help to extend your forum bbPress forum even further.<\/p>\n<p>I hope this helps those who are new to WordPress and searching for a solid social networking \/ forum option!
