Authorize.net support in Membership

I spoke with Live support over the weekend and wanted to confirm something I was told.

Is it correct that the Authorize.Net gateway code doesn’t support Serial / Auto-renewing memberships?

Thank you for the great question and it is true that it does not support recurring payments using Authorizenet though this has been put in as a feature request and has something to do with the API.

Hopefully this feature will become available in the near future.

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your response, but don’t you think that it should be advertised somewhere that Authorize.net doesn’t support all subscription types?

We had to review the code to figure out it wasn’t supporting Serial memberships, and then contact support to confirm.

This should be added to the documentation immediately.

Is there an ETA on this feature being completed? Or is it something my team should complete on our own?

I completely concur with defiantbyte. We we were going to move from PayPal Payments Pro, which is not supported by the Membership plugin with customization to Authorize.net. It costs dollars to make that move and I just happened to read this. I would have been VERY upset to learn about this after paying to move to Authorize.net.

These questions are for the plugin developer. It’s my understanding he’ll be looking at this thread.

– Are PaypalSolo and TwoCheckout the only two gateways that support

serial memberships with automatic renewals?

– Is ‘membership_subscription_form_subscription_process’ no longer used

in the plugin? I see it in the gateway code for PaypalSolo, but can’t

find it implemented in any of the plugin files.

– Are the following the only actions / filters to consider in the

gateway code?

Yes, at this time it can only be used for repeated single payments.

Are PaypalSolo and TwoCheckout the only two gateways that support

serial memberships with automatic renewals?

Not sure where you picked these two? PayPalSolo is for single payments, PayPal express supports automatic renewals.

Is ‘membership_subscription_form_subscription_process’ no longer used

I’ve not checked recently, but a lot of hooks were changed in recent versions so it may be a legacy call

I think I simply got confused with the names for the PayPal gateways, but I picked PayPal and 2Checkout because they are the 2 I know have recurring features. I was asking so I could see which plugins I should review for supporting serial memberships.

I assumed that that the gateway modules were designed to handle specific hooks from the module. I was just asking if the ones I listed were the ones to pay attention to.

One more question, was there any reason the Authorize.net PHP SDK wasn’t used? Could be the module released before they had it, or maybe a licensing thing?
