[general help required] website down again

I have Tried to use just your plugins in the hope of creating a more stable website. Unfortunately I have been plagued with constant downtime. I really need your help and guidance to help me find the issue and resolve it.

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I can see that you got a number of our plugins installed on the site (the one assigned to the ticket) and some of them might be a bit “heavier” (because they are more complex) than others. While the plugin such as for example Hummingbird can give the site a significant performance boost, there’s always a prerequisite that has to be met: a stable server that provides enough resources for the site.

That, in fact, applies to all the plugins, not only ours. For example: you might have a perfectly working site and then you decide to add some new plugin to it and the site goes down – because it turns out that adding more code to the site (a plugin in this case) caused it to go over available server limits.

Another common case is a conflict (that also applies to our plugins as well as any other plugins): while we are doing everything to make our plugins as compatible with everything as possible, there’s always a chance that a conflict with some other plugin might occur. There’s so many different configurations of WordPress + plugins + themes + servers around that it makes it virtually impossible to test them all.

But that’s why we are here so I’ll be happy to check your site to find out what is happening and why. To be able to do that, I would need to take a closer look at your setup first, so would you please:

1. enable WordPress debugging and share a debug log file with me?

To do this:

– add following lines to the “wp-config.php” file, right above the “/* That’s all, stop editing! */” line

– wait until the site goes down again and look for a file named “debug.log” inside the “/wp-content” folder of your WordPress install; download the file and upload it to some file storage of yours (e.g. your Google Drive or Dropbox account)

2. enable support access to the site?

To do this, please go to the “Network Admin -> WPMU DEV -> Support” page in your site’s back-end and click on “Grant support access” button there.

Once that’s done, please let me know here and share a download link to the “debug.log” file with me.

I’ll then check the log and the site to see what’s happening and how to deal with it.

I have waited until the site went down.

I have tried to upload the debug.log to Google drive, but it will not have it.

Any suggestions?

I have activated ‘support access’.

Hi Simon,

I was able to check your debug log by going to yourdomain.com/wp-content/debug.log, however, there’s nothing in there since October 9th, and most of the stuff in there are just notices that shouldn’t be bringing your site down.

Only thing I could find in there that might be related to issue is this:

This seems like a DB error but I’m not sure what’s causing it, it would be worth checking with your hosting provider about this error as they should be able to give you more info about the cause.

Could you provide us with cPanel or FTP access so we can have a closer look at your installation?
