Generate/Display user report by role or site

I have a site that is getting large and when a site owner uses a optin page from a plugin I am using, that person that “opts-in” is added to that site as a “subscriber.

So now my users list is getting large and when I view users it shows all in one list and I don’t see any way to sort by subscribers & admins?

In Network Admin > Users it displays all users but doesn’t show the role.

If you go into a site and view all users, then it shows the users and displays the users role.

How could I sort or generate a user report that shows the role so I can list all my site owners(administrators) and subscribers separately?

You can display list of users by their role using the roles options on the users screen in subsite as displayed in the attached screenshot.

If I go to a site and view all users for that site I do see the roles. If use the all users from the left or network admin >users I don’t see roles and its not in the screen options. See attached.

Hi George,

The user roles filter is not displayed in the users screen in network admin area because an user can have different roles in different sub sites in the multisite network but you can see the user role for the specific site in the network admin area by going to the All sites screen as displayed in the attached screenshot.

Right, I understand but I don’t want click on 200 sites one at a time. Is it possible to generate some kind of report so I can have listing of all my site owners/admins excluding subscribers and maybe showing the username or site address. How would you do you do that if you have 100’s of users?

I have written a script some days ago to show the subsite admins, emails etc with a shortcode. Let me know if it works for you: https://gist.github.com/bappi-d-great/e4048f7826c994ae1f3c

You can add those codes in your functions.php in the theme, if you think your theme won’t be changed. Otherwise mu-plugins is the best solution. To use mu-plugins, go to /wp-content/ and find the folder with name ‘mu-plugins’. If there is no folder in that name, then create a folder, name it ‘mu-plugins’, create a file inside that, give any name you like and paste the code in there. You don’t need to activate that plugin. Mu-plugins means must use plugins, so it will be activated automatically always. If you use mu-plugins then add a php start tag at the beginning of the code.

The last column on the table displays the bio info from the profie:

Could you edit that line so it would display the users first & last name instead of the description?

It will show Site name, admin display name, email and first name & last name.

Well, I don’t understand why you want to show display name and first & last name both. Maybe I misunderstood?

  It’s been 6 years since you last posted in this thread. I tried using this for WordPress 5.6.1, but it doesn’t work. You understood correctly and that is EXACTLY what I needed :slight_smile:

There is another separate site that is collecting payment from the registered users on their site who then have the info sent to my site & the accounts/sites created.

I have never done that & figuring it out as I go. Maybe I won’t need the first & last name but just wanted the info so I could compare my list of sites/users with the user list of paid users from the other site that is pushing over new accounts just to be sure everything is accurate.

Now I have a few hundred users & more coming so just figured I will need some way to track the info. Occasionally you have people that say they paid when they didn’t or maybe accidentally purchased 2 accounts. Sometimes they don’t always included enough info on the support tickets so this just makes it easier to locate the account. I could be going about this wrong but its working for me so far :slight_smile:
