Pro Sites – Logged In Users Unable to Create new Sites – No Page

I clicked on the link “Create New Site” from within DashBoard>MySites, and was taken to the following URL:

http://network.foundersync.com/blogs/create/

But, there is no page at this location.

How do I correct this problem?

Hey there.

That’s not a Pro Sites issue, it’s a BuddyPress issue.

Admin –> Network –> Settings –> BuddyPress –> Pages [TAB]

You can then setup the pages for the blogs aka Site Tracking.

Once a page is set and the page is saved it should work.

I already have a page setup and configured for “Site Tracking” in BuddyPress.

http://network.foundersync.com/site-tracking/

That URL has a link “Create a Site” and it points to:

How do I update the link in the dashboard to point to the /site-tracking/create ?

I do not see any un-used options on the Pages Tab within BuddyPress.

The link from within the dashboard is still pointing to:

http://network.foundersync.com/blogs/create/

hmm…

If you re-saved that page and nothing happened then can you also re-save your permalinks?

Admin –> Settings –> Permalink

And just save it again then try.

If that doesn’t work then please recheck your htaccess:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration#.htaccess_and_Mod_Rewrite

I deleted the page. Then re-added. Confirmed the buddypress settings (See Attached).

Then, re-saved the permalinks (See attached image).

Also updated the .htaccess file as per instructions for “Sub-Folder Example”.

Still not working. Link from Dashboard is going to /blogs/create/ instead of:

I think I might see the problem…. So:

/site-tracking-2/create/

Works?

But somewhere links to:

/blogs/create/

Is that right?

I know some themes link to the old structure before you could choose your own page for the blogs directory in BP.

If that is all right, then could you let me know where the linking is wrong, is it theme based? Something else? Another plugin?

Perhaps include a screenshot of where you mean so I can see for myself?

Seems like a minor bug there.

I just opened:

http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4632

You can edit or create a bp-custom.php file. This just goes into your /plugin/ folder.

Then add this:
```
function bp_blogs_creation_location_revised( $url ) {

return apply_filters( 'bp_blogs_creation_location', trailingslashit( bp_get_root_domain() . '/' . bp_get_blogs_root_slug() . '/create', $url ) );

}

add_filter( 'wp_signup_location', 'bp_blogs_creation_location_revised' );
```
That should sort you out until it’s fixed in BP.

I created the PHP file and uploaded to: /wp-content/plugins/

Still have the same issue.

It’s been accepted as a fix now, so should be in the next version:

Lets change the priority on the code I supplied you:
```
function bp_blogs_creation_location_revised( $url ) {

return apply_filters( 'bp_blogs_creation_location', trailingslashit( bp_get_root_domain() . '/' . bp_get_blogs_root_slug() . '/create', $url ) );

}

add_filter( 'wp_signup_location', 'bp_blogs_creation_location_revised', 11 );
```

Good to know that the issue will be resolved shortly when BuddyPress pushes an update.

The functions won’t clash or it shouldn’t as I made it a custom one above.

But once released you should really remove the code from bp-custom.php for efficiency.
