Shopping cart on product list page and online products

First I want to tell that I have solved my issue with the translation!

My first question is:

Is it possible to add the shopping cart on the product list page?

I have tried to add a widget but I didn’t make it….

Next question is:

When the customer buy the magazine they need to get both

a protected link to the online magazine (I use kvisoft) and the downloadable pdf-magazine.

I have tested the download function and it works perfect.

But I can’t find any solution on how to solve the online part with a protected link.

The only thing I can come up with is to make a pdf-doc containing both the online link and the download link – but this is not a good solution because the customer will be able to share the links…

Hi @eva,

There is a cart widget, does your theme have sidebars? it should be possible if it does.

With regards to the protected link as well as the download, I’m not sure it’s possible to do both, let me ask the developer if he can suggest anything other than what you suggested as that’s the way I would have suggested it too.

I think your solution (while not elegant) is probably the best solution as MarketPress doesn’t currently have the ability to serve and a download and provide a separate link.

The only other thing I could think of is to put the online versions behind protected pages (if they are hosted on your website). You can use our Membership plugin to do this easily! This will allow you protect the online versions of your magazine so even if someone got the link they wouldn’t be able to view it unless they were a member.

Yes I know about that – I use the Magic Member tool already. For customers who subscribe there are no problems – they do as you say. But the problem is when someone only by one number of the magazine.

I will go for my solution on that.

About the widget question…

Yes my theme supports widgets in different forms.

I have the Magazine theme from Themify.me combined with Magic Member and your Market press…

I have tried to add the widget and it show up on the store page so that is ok.

But what I want is to have the cart in an widget also on the product list page. That page I can’t find, I guess it’s automated and therefore I can’t edit it.

Can you maybe help me?

In MarketPress 2.9 the store pages are “virtual” – in other words they aren’t real/physical pages that WordPress knows about. We’ve realized that this is a shortcoming (widgets is one of the reasons) and in MarketPress 3.0 (the next major release) we plan on making the store pages actual pages within WordPress. :slight_smile:

In the mean time, you can look into the various MarketPress short codes (these can be found under Products > Store Settings > Shortcodes) and take a look at [mp_list_products]. So, what you would do is create a page (let’s say “Products”:wink: and then add this shortcode to your page content. You can now add widgets to that page. :slight_smile:

Great – I have done a new product page with the product list and the cart to the right!

But…. How can I overwrite the automated product list page – http://omom.se/store/products/

The new page I have made: http://omom.se/produkter/

Product is Produkt in swedish!

I want to keep

shopping cart=kundvagn

order status=orderstatus

and just change the product list

You can install this redirection plugin. Then, add a redirect to redirect http://omom.se/store/products/ to http://omom.se/store/produkter.

Thanks it worked well!

I just saw another thing – when I accept a new update I will lose the swedish translation.

Does that mean that I need to re-install the translationen every time there is a new update?

Yes, make sure you keep a backup copy of all your plugin translation files, you will need to add them again after each plugin update because wordpress deletes the entire plugin folder when it updates. Be sure to update the translation files with each update too, because the plugin could have changed some words or added new ones.

I’ll get this patched up in the next release, but in the mean time you can open up your marketpress.php and find the localization() function (some where around line 399). Replace the entire function with this:
