SmartCrawl autolinks warnings

Autolinks feature from Smartcrawl is showing a lot of “PHP Warnings” in the posts, however, the debug flag (WP_DEBUG) is set to “false”.

I can see that Luis made to suppress these error messages using the following snippet in wp-config.php file:
```
ini_set('log_errors','On');

ini_set('display_errors','Off');

ini_set('error_reporting', E_ALL );
```
He mentioned though, that after doing so, the posts’ content weren’t visible at all, which sounds pretty weird have to say.

I’ve tried to replicate in my end, by enabling SmartCrawl and Automatic linking. I just enabled that for Posts and created a simple rule to link a word in my test post.

Even after using your child theme along with the Divi version you currently use, I was unable to replicate this. I’ve also tried to activate/deactivate WP_DEBUG from my wp-config.php and I was still unable to see any error message…

I can see that SmartCrawl is deactivated now in your installation.

Is it possible to activate it temporarily, to check your settings and the reported issue?

This will help us further troubleshoot that, as we first need to find if the issue is reproducible or specific to your site/server. :slight_smile:

I can see the issue now… I’ve also tried to “replicate” your Automated Links settings (even though they weren’t something special), but I’m still unable to replicate (I even used a staging site of mine in WPEngine, just in case it’s server related).

I’m still wondering if this is some kind of conflict, as I’m unable to replicate so far. I can see that my colleague Luis tried to deactivate all plugins during your live chat, with no avail.

Can I proceed with such a conflict test once again, this time including the active theme? So I could try to activate a default theme like TwentySeventeen for example. This should reveal to us the source of this issue.

If this also ends up to the same issue, we’ll escalate it to our devs for further investigation. :slight_smile:

As long as you changing the theme only on the staging site, that is fine.

After some more tests I was able to narrow this down eventually!

First, I deactivated all plugins and used a default theme, to be sure that there’s no conflict.

As the issue was still there, I tried to replicate it once more with the exact set of keywords and link that you were using, but it was still working in a local site of mine.

I then noticed that some keywords were having the “/” character, so I thought that I could try to escape this character with a backslash, and that did the trick! :tada:

I’ve updated keywords “the over/under at BetDSI” to “the over/under at BetDSI“. Now posts’ content is visible again (I even activated back all previously activated plugins and child theme), and automatic linking is still working, meaning that a string like “the over/under at BetDSI” will be auto-linked successfully (I tested that temporarily in a post).

As I couldn’t replicate in my test site though, I’ve already contacted SmartCrawl’s lead developer to provide any additional insights.
