[SmartCrawl Pro] Add author pages to site map

Hello, we would like to add our Author pages to the sitemap. Here is an example of our Author url structure: https://furzly.com/writer/spencer-stevens/

How can we make this work?

You can manually add the additional URLs to your sitemap from:
SmartCrawl > Sitemap > Extra URLs

After including the URLs, don’t forget to click the Save Settings button.

Hi John Cantlin,

SmartCrawl should pick pages automatically and you can choose what to include or exclude from Smart Crawl -> Sitemap -> Include.

I tried to replicate this case on my testing site, so I registered a CPT “Writers” and that’s what the Include section shows:

SmartCrawl automatically included the URL for the Writer page I created as you can see in the next screenshot of my sitemap.

I can see that the URL you mentioned is throwing a 404 error so I recommend fixing that error first then to check if those URLs are included in your sitemap.

That is so cool that it works for you. Our SmartCrawl does not give us the “writers” option.

In order to check this further I just need some more clarification, so could you please tell me if you’re creating your Writer pages as a Custom Post Type? or you’re just renaming the “Author” URL and base?

You can download a zip, unzip it and upload file smartcrawl-add-author-pages-to-sitemap.php to your wp-content/mu-plugins folder. If that folder doesn’t exist you can simply create it.

or you can paste it in your child theme’s functions.php file.

Sorry, I have a mistake with my MU plugin. On the old version, when you run the command line with WP CLI, nothing will be executed.
Can you update this MU plugin from the link which I sent you before? Or you can open the MU plugin and replace exit with return, like this:

if ( ! defined( 'ABSPATH' ) || ( defined( 'WP_CLI' ) && WP_CLI ) ) {
	return;
}
```
