smartCrawl – The crawl timed out

I try the smartCrawl plugin on 2 or 3 website and everytime it take…. . . . looooooong before nothing happen, except this message :

“The crawl timed out”

Can you have a look, please ?

I hope you are having a great day!

I logged on to your site and it really seems like a long time before anything happens when running the SEO check.

What happens if you go to The Hub -> My Websites and open the SEO tab? Do you see anything there? You can hit the Run New Scan button and this will send you to your WP dashboard – any luck repeating the test like that?

If this has no result, could you please access your server through FTP, edit the wp-config.php file, find a line like

define('WP_DEBUG', false);

and replace it with the following (if the above line doesn’t exist, simply insert next snippet just above the /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ comment)

// Enable WP_DEBUG mode

define('WP_DEBUG', true);

// Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file

define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

// Disable display of errors and warnings

define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

```
The log will be saved to a debug.log file inside the “/wp-content” folder. Please save the file as a .txt and attach it to your next post.

If the file’s larger than 5MB you might need to upload it somewhere like Dropbox and share the link here.

Done,…

I try to run both, from the hub and the website.

When I run on the website on the hub I saw the analys stock at 0%

and when I go to the wordpress admin I saw “THE CRAWL TIMED OUT”

and run again.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

It looks like this issue has occurred in few other cases and since its very specific issue our developers already looking into it to find a fix.

Am I the only one to teste this plugin on 3 website and have a problem ?

don’t really understand!!!

I instal it on 2 website in use,.. and also try it on a fresh instal and can’t make it work

I apologize for the inconvenience, it does work on some sites and not on others. Our developers currently working on a patch that should fix this issue. It’s not ready yet, but once it is, I’ll post it in this thread, to let you know.

I am sorry but we don’t have any news from the developer on this specific issue yet. Sorry! I have pinged the developer to get a beta/patch if possible.

This one is a bit tricky to reproduce since it is working for staff and developer. That is why it is taking some unusual time.

Just a quick update for ya. We have pinned down where the bug is, it’s on the service side; however, pinning down exactly what the bug is was another story. The biggest issue is that it only happens very rarely – you may have seen a few others report a similar issue but in the big picture it’s only happened to a very small amount of members and staff haven’t been able to replicate it. So this meant we needed more data to come in.

I spoke with the developer and he thinks he has a potential fix almost ready and will be deploying soon long as it passes QA testing. Soon as I hear that it’s been pushed out then I’ll let you know.

I try this plugin on 4 websites and it never worked !

fresh instal with barely nothing on it, large and small website, so rarely for me ¿¿??

The only common point between these websites are the template, they all use Divi, maybe it helps!!?

please keep follow up this issue, I ask myself if I need to rethink my SEO strategy and going back to Yoast !?

I’ve tested the Divi theme from my end and the SEO Scan completed, so I am afraid this is not the issue. As our developers mentioned, this is related to server configurations which they are currently trying to resolve.

I’ve reset the SEO Scan from our end on one of your domain, the ju***-***la.ch. Would you please try to scan your site again and let us know if it has stuck again?

We are close to releasing new version of SmartCrawl that should take care of those problems, beta is currently tested by our QA team and as soon they give green light we will get new update.

there’s a plan “for mid October”, I really can’t provide an exact estimated time on this though.

I can see that beta versions are being sent to our QA department, so hopefully this won’t take much longer. :slight_smile:

I have had the same issue on all of my sites! The crawl always times out and fails to generate a sitemap. I have contacted support twice about it and still haven’t found a solution. I love Smartcrawl’s options and features but I have to revert back to Yoast SEO because it actually works.

I’m really sorry for the long waiting update of SmartCrawl plugin.

There’re some additional functionalities, as well as some large rewrites both in plugins and our our API that’s undergoing, hopefully these will be ready for testing and publication pretty soon.
