About GoDaddy

One of the taglines on the GoDaddy website is that it 'has a plan for everything.' This sums up our research pretty well. There's so much you can do on GoDaddy, but the cost of many features and services can really add up. In contrast, WPMU DEV is 'Everything WordPress' (and only WordPress) with simple and flexible pricing.

How the battle went down.

For these tests, we used two different (and free) performance testing tools:

A load testing service that allows you to stress test your web-apps and APIs with thousands of concurrent connections. Find out more

KeyCDN's performance testing tool

This tool measures the performance of any URL from 10 different locations around the world. We used this to test TTFB. Find out more

*Based on starting plans for each platform.

Max Parallel Clients
The number of users the server handled at one time before maxing out.
TTFB Average (All Locations)
The average TTFB reading across all the tested locations (lower number is better).
476 ms
332 ms
TTFB Average (Geo-Optimized)
The lowest (A.K.A best) TTFB reading out of all the locations tested (lower number is better).
81.14 ms
66.5 ms

Looking at the above, WPMU DEV takes it out when it comes to max parallel clients. During the test, DEV was able to handle over three times the amount of parallel users before erroring out.

When it comes to host speed, GoDaddy has the advantage in both TTFB categories. Just keep in mind it’s best to have a combination of server strength and speed.
