Trouble activating Remove Email Verification plug-in

We’re using WP mu for 40+ blogs, one for each of our sports networks. We’d like to PW protect each with a unique login that will be shared by all affiliates.

I was hoping the Remove Email Verification plug-in would allow me to set up a common, shared (by all affiliates) account for each network.

I uploaded the plug-in to the MU plug-ins folder and activated on a couple of sites… but see no change in the Add User options.

Any help will (and patience) will be appreciated.

    Hiya,

The "Remove Email Verification" plugin just removes the email verification step in the signup process.

Are you trying to password protect all blogs and have a single user account people can use to login to read the posts on each blog?

    Thanks,

    Andrew:

One of our MU blogs is for affiliates of the Alabama Crimson Tide Radio Network. Each affiliated radio station on the network will need access to that blog. But we’re just talking about a single, shared log-in.

For example: UN: CrimsonTide PW: bama001

Or some variation of that. It seems so simple. But obviously that plug-in isn’t the right tool. Can you point me to something that will give us that kind of simple login?

"is there a reason why just creating a user on that blog and handing out the password won’t work?"

Good question. No, no reason. Other than having to create 40 different email accounts so we could confirm/activate the account. It might come to that but we thought there might be a better/easier way.

    You’re a patient man, Andrew.

One account… for each of 40 different blogs (within this MU installation).

    Alabama = one account

    Clemson = one account

    North Carolina = one account

    and so on…

I’ve attempted to add a couple of users, with email addresses from people in nearby offices. And they report never receiving the invite/confirm email.

    What am I missing here?

    Andrew:

From now on I’ll post in the Dumb Ass Forum.

The reason none of the "invite" emails have gone out is we’ve never set up email for WP mu on our server. I’ll start looking for the documentation on how to do that.

That doesn’t address my original question and –as far as I can tell– I’ll still have to add users with 40 different email addresses but that’s not a big deal.

I’m going to go lie down now.

    I’m glad I found WPMUdev.

Nah, I just got back from a week long break. Nice and relaxed at the moment

Ah, now that makes sense

No worries. We all have our days!

Yeh, I’m afraid WPMU only allows an email address to be used with one user account. However, gmail is a big help with this.

Let’s say your gmail account is rolltide@gmail.com. The following email addresses are valid aliases (forwarded to your actual gmail account):

    rolltide+1@gmail.com

    rolltide+2@gmail.com

    rolltide+football@gmail.com

    rolltide+whateveryouwantgoeshere@gmail.com

    etc

    Thanks,

    Andrew
