Where's the site map?

I use the Simple Sitemaps for Multisite plugin by Viper007bond (Inscub). However, in google, I get just the plain google listing link rather than one of those links with a directory of sub-links underneath the main link. How do I get a listing like that?

This is what the plugin says in my admin page:

    Simple Sitemaps For Multisite

    Network Deactivate

The ultimate search engine plugin – Simply have sitemaps created, submitted and updated for every blog on your site

Version 1.0.4 | By Viper007Bond (Incsub) | Visit plugin site

But I can’t find it on this site. Is it an old version?

Regarding the Sitemaps and SEO plugin, are you able to verify the existence of your sitemap file? It should reside at yoursite.com/sitemap

    I got

    not found.

Hmmm, why isn’t the plugin working? Also, did this plugin get discontinued. I think I downloaded it only this year but now I can’t find it on your site. I wasn’t particularly interested in an SEO plugin and I liked it because it was “simple” plus Viper007bond has a good rep.

The project is still available and you’ll find it at the following page:

    https://wpmudev.com/project/sitemaps-and-seo-wordpress-mu-style

I think I misunderstood your original question and I’m guessing that’s mostly what you were looking for? The installation page (linked to on the above page) mentions a rewrite rule needing to be added to your .htaccess file. Perhaps that is all that’s missing?

    Cheers,

    David

    Hiya wadams92101,

We’re actually phasing out this plugin because of the much more up-to-date WPMU DEV SEO Plugin:

    https://wpmudev.com/project/wpmu-dev-seo

I would highly recommend switching to this plugin as it’s more advanced and provides more finely-tuned controls. The one you’re currently using is meant to be very simple and doesn’t provide any options. Folks are having a lot of success with the newer plugin, how bout giving that one a shot?

    Thanks!

I just found this reply to the same question on a forum (irishwebmasterforum.com):

Simple answer: You can’t. They are called sitelinks and have nothing to do with your xml sitemap. You can find more information here:Webmaster Help Center – How do you compile the list of links shown below some search results? In general, sites with sitelinks have a large amount of inbound deeplinks. I have seen blogs that have had 3 separate blog posts dugg get sitelinks. If it was as easy as submitting an XML sitemap, we’d all be doing it .

Is that true? (That’s a bummer.)

Ribman, from my experience, it would depend on the theme.

I’ve been specializing in SEO for about a decade and I highly recommend the WordPress SEO by Yoast Plugin. It works with WPUM Dev’s 133 Theme Pack, WooThemes, and Genesis Themes. It’s by far the most complete SEO WordPress tool and is WordPress MS compatible.

I haven’t tried WPMU Dev’s SEO plugin but everything else they make here seems pretty solid. I just stuck with what I knew before working on the MS platform and it’s done well so far.

Word of warning, Yoast’s Google Analytics plugin will blow up you site if you use it with the multisite. So stay away from that one and stick to WPMU Dev’s Analytics plugin.

wadams92101, the Yoast plugin also handles the Google, Bing, and Yahoo XML site mapping. You might give that a go and see if that resolves your site map issues.

    Hi @troycdunn,

This is an older thread but I had to post to say thanks for your great insight. I’ve only used Infinite SEO myself though I realize Yoast’s solution has been around quite a while and comes highly recommended.

Regarding Analytics, I gotta say, we have a new version of Multisite Analytics coming out soon and it’s pretty stunning. Beta’s fully accessible here for now:

    Thanks!
