Link caption in Facebook should be meta from link not from site home or featured image html (currently this)

Would LOVE to be able to pre-write the FB post to go above the shared link so it is not just a link but my Facebook post with the link.

Would like to be able to specify FB author where it says “x minutes ago via APP NAME. My app name is mumble jumble bc I didn’t want people confusing it with my Page.

    Hi nphough,

Thanks for your suggestions and thanks for posting them here, it’ll help us keep things more organized in your other thread.

I’m not totally sure I understand your second item regarding the Facebook post and shared link. Could you please clarify that, perhaps provide a screenshot illustrating it?

    Thanks,

    David

Hi – yes screen shots attached:

The first screen shot shows the text I wrote above my link when I posted it to my page – when I post my blog items manually I include a description of what it is, choose the thumbnail, etc. When it goes automatically it's just a link with the post title as the facebook "post." I'd like to be able to add what I want it to say when it goes to FB (I know no one else has this – but since it is Ultimate Facebook… :grinning:

The 2nd screen shot is an example of what posted automatically when I went in and changed the featured image after the scheduled post time. That one kind of shows all three issues.

FWIW I'm not even totally crazy about the manual one. I wish it took the meta info from the post and not from the homepage…

    Thx so much!

    Nicole

One other thought – I don’t know if this is a FB issue but I would like the auto-posted link to have a Share button. Seems it doesn’t currently. (Seems the one I posted manually didn’t either in the example above, but it usually does… hmmm… THX!!

Thanks for clarifying all of that nphough, I see what you mean. I recall a similar question being raised recently regarding the posted information.

That featured image screenshot you mentioned is peculiar, it’s just displaying the shortcode without having rendered it. You mentioned you changed the featured image after the scheduled post time, but the Facebook post itself shouldn’t be affected by changes made after the post is posted. Is that what you’re saying occurred there?

    Thanks,

    David

Hi David – No, I noticed that the post did not go automatically to FB when it published on the blog at the scheduled time. So I went in to get the URL to post it manually to FB and while I was doing that I set the featured image. When I did that, the post sent automatically to FB and displayed the shortcode you see. (Does that make sense? So I didn’t end up manually posting it because it was there like that when I went to do it) Thx!

Just to be clearer – the examples are two different posts even though they have the same pic – the first one was from the main blog announcing the new section. The second one was the first post in that category thru CustomPress…
