Problems with Older Magazine Theme

I’m using a very old version of Magazine.

Recently, registrations stopped working. Nothing I’ve done has worked so I decided to replaced the BP 1.1.3 plugin I’m using. For some reason, this killed the site: everything under the header turned white for Magazine 1.1.9.

Currently I defaulted to 1.0.5 and all the content shows up – but some plugins don’t work (is this is a theme issue or BP issue – why would plugins suddenly stop working with an identical BP install?). So: any idea why 1.1.9 isn’t working?

I have the newest Magazine downloaded, but given all that’s happened just replacing a plugin, I’m wary of having to replace everything. I’m currently using MU 2.9.2.

Thanks.

This is a tricky one to advise. If you do upgrade (which we’d recommend you do) you will have to upgrade your site aswell. Our latest Magazine would required BuddyPress 1.5 minimum / WordPress 3.3. This I take it may be an issue for you.

My advice would be to take stock and get some more information from you please at this point.

    1. What other plugins are you using around registration if any – membership or prosite / something along those lines?

    2. Have you tried resetting your permlinks and re saving your BuddyPress settings to be 100% sure everything is all linked up?

Re-saving settings didn’t seem to help. If it helps any, I noticed that the header links are still there, just blanked out – Home, Magazine, Community, etc. Except under Community, the only drop-down option is Activity. No Members, Groups, or Forums.

I’m using Cimy Swift SMTP and BP Registration Options, which isn’t showing up with the old theme – and that’s why I need 1.1.9. I need to moderate users some way.

I realize upgrading is best, but I have a beta site set up with 1.5 and the newest Magazine – http://www.sprbeta.com – and it isn’t much different than what I have already.

I seemed to have fixed it by re-installing the old BP folder.

Registrations still don’t work, so if you have any ideas, please let me know. I didn’t change anything on the site, but one day registrations stopped working – leads to a blank screen or 404 after Complete Sign-Up.
