Can't see uploaded images in post/pages

When I load up images and paste into a post or pages, I can see the images perfectly when I am logged in but no-one else can. If you go to:

fastbodyblast.com

You will see that I have a test post that should show my avatar picture (same as the one I have here) but it just shows a small white question mark in a blue box!

Exactly the same thing is happening in other pages I have created that require a subscription to see. I can see them perfectly with my login but when my wife is logged in under her account, she can see the pages but not the photos.

I inserting the images by uploading the image to the media library. Then when in the post or page, I am selecting the media button, going to the media library, selecting the image (clicking “show”, then selecting “insert into post”.

I have the membership plugin and the 133 Theme Pack – currently running Arclite

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Rod

    Hi Rod

Greetings from the WPMU DEV Support Team and thank you for being a member of our Community!

I had a look at the site link you provided and checked the code via Firebug – found that the folder that the image is in is not the standard WordPress folder.

It is currently in this folder: /downloadswp-content/uploads/2012/04/IMG_0525.jp

And I believe it should be in this folder: /wp-content/uploads/2012/04/…

Please let me know if it will show when you move the image to this folder. If it doesn’t show after moving it here, then we will have to investigate further.

Of course you will have to paste the URL of the image into your post.

Look forward to your feedback and getting this sorted for you

    Have a good day!

    Gina

Hope my response is helpful. Appreciate a thumbs up if it is. If it’s not, please let me know how I can serve you better.

Thanks for getting back to me Gina.

I have checked where the image says it (should) be in the media folder. A screen shot is attached. It says it is in: http://www.fastbodyblast.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/IMG_0525.jpg

How can I move this? (Sorry I really am a beginner at all this).

Also if it is in the file you tell me, how did it get there given that I just used the wordpress media upload buttons to get the image to the media library?

You are welcome Rod  That's what we're here for.

Ok, the image is in the correct folder. So as a temporary solution until we figure out why your images are not reading from the correct folder, I would suggest the following action (see my screenshots) on a test page (you can send the link to me please).

Note this is only a temporary solution. Now after following my screenshots I would like you to try and insert the same image via the Insert option, but instead of selecting the 'From URL' tab, please select Media Library and add the image from there into your post. So you would then have two images on the test page and we can check the image properties to see where is it reading from.

I look forward to receive your feedback and finding a solution for this.

    All the best!

    Gina

    Gina,

I have created a test page as you requested. Here is the link:

    http://www.fastbodyblast.com/test-page/

The screen shots follow the order I did things. The first image has been uploaded using the media library and is medium in size.

The second is using the URL method you have shown above. Its the much larger image as its full size.

Have I done this correctly? (your examples obviously look different to my screen and I don’t have any affiliate links I can click as shown in your first screen shot).

    Sorry Gina,

The previous screen shots were to big to attach. These ones are the right size but might be too small!

    Gina,

I just discovered something useful. I de-activated the membership plugin and the photos appear perfectly throughout the site. When I re-activated the plugin, the photos disappeared again – for users other than me when I am logged in.

Should I simply delete the plugin and upload it again? I can re-enter everything into the membership site quite quickly at this stage (as I am still setting the site up), so it wouldn’t be much hassle.

    Hi Rod

Thank you for your latest posts and feedback.

I will test the Membership plugin against the 133 Theme Pack – Arclite so see if I can reproduce this problem with images showing.

Note that the screenshots that you provided before were very small, so I couldn’t really make out what was on it.

I will let you know the outcome after I completed my testing.

    Have a good day!

    Gina,

I also have problems with the registration for new members. I have created a test subscription – called Rodtest – to highlight the problems. In a nutshell, the new subscriber cannot complete their subscription as when asked to click to complete, there is nothing to click on as shown by the first screen shot.

Then in my admin mode, I note the new member as an inactive account. I then must manually activate the new member. I also have to manually add membership level and subscription. Please see screen shots.

Then logging back in as Rodtest, note that the member profile is the first screen that the member goes to. The instruction pdf indicates that it should go to a default screen that avoids this. The screen shot shows this.

Lastly I have attached the new member view of the website – not being able to see any pictures. This is the last screen shot.

Have you had any luck with the original problem of not being able to view the pictures? I have clients waiting on this site to be activated properly. I am happy for you to contact me directly via my email with WPMU Dev if you want to take a look at the admin side of my site directly.

    Kind regards

    Rod

    Hi Rod

    Hope you’re well.

Please note that we just released the latest version of the Membership Plugin (3.0 RC2). Kindly upgrade and let me know if the problem you experienced with the images not showing still persist after the upgrade.

I look forward to your feedback.

    All the best!

    Gina,

Just to confirm – do you want me to delete the existing version currently in wordpress and then upload the latest version?

Or does it over write the old version when I upload the latest version (so no need to delete the old version from wordpress first)?

I would rather not get this wrong so I will wait for your reply before proceeding.

    Thanks for the follow up!!

Yes, can you delete the existing version completely and then upload version RC2 – this has a few extra bits in it that will help to diagnose and then, hopefully fix, the media issues. It’s best to remove it first as that then ensures that all the new files are uploaded and there isn’t any risk of having some files from the old version left behind.

Hi, those were only the first part of the instructions

Next step is to go to the membership options page and click on the downloads / media tab and let me know what is list as the location membership thinks your uploads are located.

    Barry,

    Ah! That makes sense then…

Attached is the screen print of that page.

(Can this screen print be deleted from this thread once you take a look? Or the relevant details blacked out? The page has a warning that I shouldn't make this info available).

    Hi Rod

I noticed that you were concerned about the privacy issue of your downloads page URL, so I deleted the image. However, I did save it for Barry and will email it to him so he can respond to your latest post.

All the best and talk soon again.

I see this all the time on these forums….people give up because no one can find an answer to obvious problems many people are having, so instead of coming up with a solution and posting here, the thread just gets closed and dies.

I am having this problem as well and would really like to get a solution. Could someone please still look into this?

I disable the plugin, the images show up fine, enable the plugin, the images are broken. (inserting http://www.**********.com/downloadswp-content/uploads/2010/03/slice2-300×243.jpg

    Thank you.
