How can a Q&A user decide if he wants to receive emails for new questions?

Hi,

I would like to know how can a user decide if he wants to receive an email notification for each new question without leaving the frontend. It would be really nice if this could be configured on the user profile (only seen by logged in users, of course).

Can this be achieved? Does it exist today? If not, how can I submit a feature request?

Thanks in advance,

Nuno

    Nuno,

You can set the capabilities for your users to subscribe to emails in the Dashboard>Questions>Settings area

They have the capability by default. Then, when they login and look at the question they will see the option to subscribe.

    I'll attach pics

    Kimberly

    Hi Kimberly,

Thank you. But actually I believe you’re talking about how a user can subscribe to answers for an existing question. But when I would want is for a user to be able to get an email when a new question (not answer) is posted.

This is not completely clear in Q&A. Besides, as a curiosity, there seems not to exist a way to customize the template which is sent when a new answer is posted.

    Regards,

    Nuno

    Nuno,

In the Users WP Profile page there is an option for subscribing to new Questions.

I'm not very familiar with using this plugin beyond testing but I've looked around and cannot find an easy way to edit the answer notification email.

I've found the reference in the .php file but no way to change it.

I've only done a cursory inspection as it is not a feature of the plugin, if you would like to request this capability you can do so in our Feature Request forum.

    Kindest Regards,

    Kimberly

    Hi Kimberly,

Thanks. I hadn’t realized that the option was under user profile in wp-admin.

But… since I don’t want to allow my users to access the administration site, most probably I won’t be able to find a simple way to solve this.

I believe it should be possible to do this on the Q&A user profile. Can you teach me how to submit feature requests for future versions?

    Thanks,

    Nuno

    Nuno,

I agree that this should be found on the User Profile, it would be much more intuitive there.

You can create a thread in our Feature Request and Feedback Forums and link it to Q&A, just as you did this thread.

I myself will give it a +1 vote.

I will go ahead and submit this as a feature request from here, but in the future you can use the above method

Moha: Can we move the Email notification for new questions or must it stay in Profile?

    Hi,

I didn’t quite understand how to post on the feature request forum and link to Q&A. Actually, to create new posts I always used a link which came on the email I got when I bought Q&A. That way I was sure I was posting on the right forum.

DId you get to create that feature request? If so, can you please send me the link so that I can vote for it?

    Thanks again,

    Nuno
