Google Calendar integration for Events +

I’d love to use Events + , especially with its cool buddypress group integration but lack of google calendar integration stops me doing so (many of my users use Google calendar or other ical formats).

As Google moves forward further integrating gmail, calendar and G+ events this need will surely continue to grow .

Two way integration with google calendar would make Events+ so much more useful and flexible letting people plan the event and post it on the site while Google take care of the mobile and shared calendar side of things.

If the integration is two way then a given site calendar would allow relevant events scheduling remotely by phone etc via Google calendar to update on the site which would be fantastic.

I am using the “All-in-One Calendar by Then.ly” currently which is pretty good but not quite on a level with Events + apart from the ease with which it can communicate and share data with other calendar formats.

Events + looks great but is a bit of an island. Given that Events + is such a groups friendly tool it would be really useful if the calendar could link in easily with peoples current calendars and organisers.

So i’m sure it’s been asked for before but i’d like to start a new push for two way icalendar integration in Events + .

Hopefully this is something that would be useful to a lot of people, if you agree then don’t be shy :wink:

    Hiya @warren_deer,

    You’re right, this would be an incredibly fantastic feature. It’s been mentioned a couple times and there are both staff and members alike that would love to see it happen.

    That being said, we’ve got a lot in store in the events arena including genuine appointments and bookings plugins for it. We’ve looked into gcal integration though and it continues to be something of a milestone on our roadmap.

    Of course, your vote here (and any others) helps to make it a higher priority. Right now, we don’t have an ETA for when this would be added, only that we all want to see it happen.

    I’ll let the developer know about your desires here as well :slight_smile:

    Googlecal and iCal-integration would seal the deal for me, and I’d be willing to chip in a little if someone could fix that asap (preferrably as in “yesterday”…:wink:.

    I was originally going to use a different event calendar for a project, but in the end it turned out to cause a major conflict with wpml+marketpress.

    So, now I have to choose:

    Either switch marketpress for woo commerce, which might still crash with that other events plugin,

    OR, i could use this one (events+), which I really hope will not crash with wpml+marketpress, but is missing the googlecal+ical-functions, which was one of the main things my client requested in the calendar – meaning I have to fix it somehow.

    So, if you could fix the googlecal+ical-stuff, that would really be a lifesaver.

    Hello,

    The latest plugin release (v1.4, just released) comes with a modular exporter framework, which allows for different format implementations and different data export areas. The implementation that would be most interesting to this thread would be the iCal export, which is implemented as an add-on. Enabling the add-on will allow exporting a single Event, or events archive view in iCal format, which could then be imported into Google Calendar, or other calendar applications.

    +1 and a +1 for the appointment and booking plugins.

    Also I don’t know why but I can’t seem to get the plugin to display or appear correctly.

    i thought that I followed the setup instructions (been pretty sick the last weeks so must have missed something) Set up a couple of events and finally got the calendar to show up in the sidebar but doesn’t display any of the upcoming events.

    Also tried to add some of the plugins and short codes that came with the download but still nothing. Thought that it may have my theme so I changed to the default WP 2011 or whatever that one is that comes installed when you first install WP. Still no luck.

    What my main goal here is the the main administrator has the ultimate control over adding the main group/members meeting and group events. Then each member (non paid group) can add any special event that they are personally having for their company. We are a group of professional businesses that refer work to each other.

    Just a note regarding the original Google import and export feature requests in this thread, that’s now available with the plugin’s add-ons for Google Import and Export as well as iCal export.

    I see a lot of fading topics not ending with a clear resolution so I hope this helps for this thread.
