Help needed with Mul-DB setup as not working

@barry

Hello everyone i hope all is well and someone can help, hoefully the legendary barry

I have created all the databses and have updated the files accordingly but i am getting an error:

Database Error: Access denied for user ‘myusername’@’%’ to database ‘ukclimber203009_c81

Please can you have a look at my db-config.php and move-blogs.php to see what ive done wrong.

I am using a remote server for the databases and have enabled remote access on my server. I have also tested all is working with desktop software such as SQLyog and the username and password are all fine.

Therefore i can only assume i have entered something wrong.

I am setting up 4096 databases and 3 vip ones.

Therefore i have 4092 databases entered and a global one and 3 vip ones. Or do i have to create 4096 databases and additional ones making it 4100?

Thanks in advance

    Hey there!

Very sorry, I was not aware that Barry was out for a few days! It’s hard to keep track of everyone in the digital office as we are spread out so far!

I will see about getting someone in on this ASAP

    Thanks for your patience! Kimberly

    Greetings Ashley Keable,

It is certain you have not been forgotten about, not for a second.

To get everything I need together to figure this one out, I will recap the configuration as I understand it.

You have an installation on local host (hosting somewhere) and the database is on another completely different server.

You have 4100 databases? Which would be correct including Globals:

Or do i have to create 4096 databases and additional ones making it 4100?

If this is indeed the case then of course I need to know the cPanel to the remote server to look at the DB’s and FTP access to the local host server so I can look at the files there i.e. db-config.php and move.php

In any event it will be a chore and looking for a needle in a haystack – but it can be found.

Please advise and confirm the configuration we are dealing with and that you have indeed checked the db-config.php looking for any mistakes?

    Cheers, Joe

    @aecnu

Yes i have a local host installation on one server and the databases are all on a seprate machine.

I have created all the databases and enabled remote connection with the same username and password. I have also tested this with some database tools and there are no issues from that side.

I have created 4100 databases (4096, 1 global and 3 vips) however im not sure if this is right as in both the db-config and move-blogs it refers to 4096 like the documenation and in no way mentions additional ones.

    Please clarify?

Therefore i am confident its the settings i have made the error with which are linked for you to view up top in my original post. However here they are again.

    Greetings Ashley Keable,

Sorry that since the lead developer is indeed flagged to come in here I have not pursued this ticket any further due to the fact that 99% of the time that I have fixed these Multi DB problems they were directly related to User name and password issues including assignments of the user name and password to databases.

I appreciate your effort fo the screen shots but they do not reveal this information so for the most part there is nothing to look at there with one exception, the add_dc_ip('87.106.166.', 'dc1'); line with incomplete IP is suspicious to say the least and in my working installations this is simply localhost.

Since I cannot hunt down the probable database issue still thinking it is what I mentioned immediately above or user name and password, there was nothing more for me to contribute to this ticket except possibly notifying Barry again.

Please advise if the above information has perhaps resolved the ticket.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hiya,

Just checking if this issue was eventually resolved in another thread? Or by yourself separately to us? Or by us over email with you? Or using our live support?

If so, no need to reply, that’s great news.

If not, or you have any more questions related to this thread, please feel free to post them below including any new symptoms or errors and tick the ‘Mark as Not Resolved (re-open)’ box below the post area (or else we’ll miss it!)

Otherwise, happy days, glad you got it sorted

Thank you for being a WPMU Dev member!
