Newly registered users are being sent into a direct loop.

I’ve tested it a few times myself now. New registrations are sent into a direct loop after they submit their registration information. Any attempts to visit the site while the site recognizes me results in the direct loop error message.

As described in a previous support ticket-https://wpmudev.com/forums/topic/im-getting-a-redirect-loop-when-logging-in-as-a-registered-user

by ascribing that user a new access level (essentially the same as the guest access level) they are able to use the newly registered user without going into a loop and select a subscriptions.

I think in the time between registering and setting up a subscription, the user is losing all access (including to the restricted access page) and it is stuck redirecting itself.

How do I fix this?

    Hey Adam,

Do you have any sort of visitor level created? When you setup Membership did you use the setup wizard? Always a good idea to do that because it ensures the necessary settings are set

Did you try the solution that Gregor gave in the thread you linked to? If it’s not still working then you would you mind granting support access so we can take a closer look at your settings  that will allow us to get to a solution quicker here.

You can grant this via dashboard – WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access.

    Look forward to your reply!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

    Hey Adam,

So the solution here is to apply a subscription plan to your users by default when they sign up. See the attached screenshot of the option  that's available via Membership > Options.

Is this happening when users sign up without choosing a subscription first or is this happening when users choose a subscription then sign up?

    Look forward to your reply!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

Users are prompted to choose a subscription before registering, but it does look like this would solve the problem.

Can I make the default subscription something that doesn’t show up in the subscriptions users choose from once they’ve registered?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Adam,

Definitely  Just set it as Private. You can do this from the Membership > Subscription Plans listing. Hover over the subscription and click the “make private” link. Then it won’t show in the subscriptions page anymore.

Hope that helps! If you still need further assistance just let us know.

    Cheers,

    Tyler
