Wiki plugin front end edits not showing immediately

OK So i’ve got my first Wiki page up and running. When I test the front-end anonymous entry, while you can make edits and click save, none of the edits show instantly. In fact it doesn’t necessarily show after numerous page reloads, but then will appear.

funnily enough, I tried creating a new page as an anonymous front-end user and it showed up instantly, but when I tried to edit it, again the edits didn’t show immediately.

I’ve selected in settings that “anyone” can edit from the front end.

Is this normal behaviour? I’d have thought edits should show instantly.

Wiki page is: http://timtopham.com/wiki/pop/ if you’d like to test it.

thanks for your help!

    Hey Tim,

Hope you’re doing well today and thanks for your question!

I checked out your site and created a wiki then went to edit it and I see that it didn’t save the content; however, there is a a lot of javascript being loaded on that page some of it giving out errors. They seem to be coming from a cloudflare file.

Do you have any caching plugins active? Can you try deactivating all other plugins and see if it is still doing it, then we can narrow down the issue

Look forward to hearing back Tim!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

Yeah your test works for me too.

I’ve always been terrified about switching to a default theme because i’m worried that I’ll lose all my formatting when I switch back.

Is it really OK to try that? Will it go back to normal when I switch back?

    Tim.

    Hey Tim,

Very sorry for my delay here. Took yesterday off and have been catching up on my follow ups

Your settings should be saved in the database for each theme. The issue usually comes when you have a new theme you want to switch too and when you switch to it there are no saved settings for it, so it tries to use the existing settings/widget areas of your previous theme but of course not all of those will line up so it may end up throwing some widgets in random widget areas. Once going back to your original theme though, the settings should still be saved for it and nothing changed

In some cases your widget areas may get mixed up when going back but i would recommend just taking a screenshot of your widgets. Make sure you don’t forget where each one is suppose to be.

Another one is sometimes it will de-select your menu, so you just have to go back into appearance menus and select it again.

Just to be on the super safe side you can always take a backup before switching too  we actually have a plugin for that: https://wpmudev.com/project/snapshot/

Hope this helps and look forward to hearing back Tim!

If you have any questions before testing the theme just let me know.

    Cheers,

    Tyler
