Using Upfront Pages vs. making my own page

I am really confused (BTW- this is the one bad thing I have to say about WPMU. You have awesome tools, but the documentation on HOW to make them work is really really really really bad, difficult to find, and/or confusing) so I always have to ask so many questions!

Anyway- I have set up NextGen galleries on my site and I have a test gallery. I have used shortcodes to put them on the page (“gallery” that comes with the Scribed theme.

Because it is an Upfront theme with the upfront drag and drop function, it does not work like a normal page- I mean, when I put a shortcode on a page, it does not show up anywhere. How do I get the content that I place on the page in the Page Editor to actually show up on the site?

http://www.adventureartretreats.com/gallery/ See there is no nextgen gallery there. I removed the automatic gallery that came with the drag and drop page. I need NextGen, please don’t tell me to just use the WPMU gallery.

    Hey Kira,

Hope you’re doing well today! Thanks for the question.

I just tested out NextGen gallery on my sandbox install of Scribe and it worked as expected. The shortcode won’t be processed until you exit the Upfront editor and look on your live site

I’ve attached a screenshot to show how it’s looking on my install.

If this still isn’t working for you then just let us know and we’ll take another look.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

PS. This is the shortcode I used on that page:

    [ngg_images gallery_ids="1" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow"]

I inserted it just into the body of the page content.

    Hey Kira,

Thanks for your reply. Any conflicts with plugins we find or get reported to us, if the issue is on our end then we will get it sorted

Upfront 0.1+ up to 1.0 will still be considered early development. Inevitably, with first releases there will be a lot of improvements to be made.

Totally understand that you aren’t able to wait – as the saying goes, time is money, and as development of Upfront continues we think it will save more and more people a lot of time

Also, just to mention, we are working on video tutorials and other documentation that should be a huge help when first trying it out.

Let us know if you do have any other questions Kira. Have a great rest of your day!

    Cheers,

    Tyler
