When using a copied template, the post editor goes full height

I’ve created a template to be used and everything works fine, except the post screen on posts & pages, which goes 100% height, which causes it to look strange as the menu icons then hover over the top of it when scrolling.

It isn’t like that in the original site.

    Hey Dark Scream,

Hope you’re doing well today. I haven’t seen this issue before. Would you mind granting support access and letting us know which site was created with your template so we can see the issue first hand? Then we can look into what is causing it and a solution to get it all sorted for you

You can grant support access via admin dashboard – WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access.

    Look forward to hearing back.

    Cheers,

    Tyler

In screenshot 1, you see it as the page loads, with the editor screen much longer than usual and more than the original site.

In the second image, you see it when it is scrolled, with the toolbar over the top of the editor.

The original site that was copied does not have this.

    Hey Dark Scream,

Hope you're doing well today! Thanks for granting the access again

I've taken a look at this and I see what the issue is, your tool bar in all your sites except the template one, has inline styles being dynamically added to it as you scroll. You can see in my attached screenshot the styles I'm referring to. These styles aren't present in your template site.

They also aren't default WordPress behaviour so I'm thinking they are coming from one of your plugins, likely one that is being used to customize the editor. Can you deactivate your plugins and see if the issue is still happening? If we can narrow down which plugin is causing it then perhaps we can find a fix for it.

    Look forward to hearing back!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

    Hey Dark Scream,

Thanks for the quick reply, good stuff finding the conflict.

It looks like that is a paid plugin. It will be easier for me to debug it in my own sandbox environment – would you mind sending the plugin file to me or sending me your FTP so I can login to it and grab the plugin? Either way works for me

    Send in:

    Subject: “Attn: Tyler Postle

    -FTP credentials (host/username/password)

-link back to this thread for reference

    -plugin file (instead of FTP)

Select “I have a different question” for your topic – this and the subject line ensure that it gets assigned to me

    https://wpmudev.com/contact/

You won’t be able to attach the file on our contact form, so if you want to go that route then you can send it to us directly from your gmail or any email client by sending it to – contact [at] wpmudev.org

Still make sure your subject is “Attn: Tyler Postle:slight_smile:

    Talk to you soon!

    Cheers,

    Tyler

    Hey Dark Scream,

Sorry for the delay here. I got your email, thanks for sending that

It looks like it might be the wrong plugin though. The one you sent me is MyMail. is that one causing you any issues as well? I think Ultra WordPress Admin is the one I need.

I’ve replied to your email so you should be able to just reply back to that. Look forward to hearing back!

    All the best,

    Tyler

haha! Thanks for sending it in

I’ve been testing this out and I’m not able to reproduce the issue at all. Can you try creating a new template and see if the same thing happens when you create a site from it? Perhaps there is just something wrong with that template – even though the issue doesn’t occur on the template itself.

Hopefully this will narrow down the issue. You may want to contact the plugins support team too – incase they know what part of the plugin would be causing that

    Look forward to hearing back!

    All the best,

    Tyler
