I am in the process of setting up multi db on my multisite.

I am in the process of setting up multi db on my multisite. I am currently on a shared hosting account with godaddy…

Im at the stage in which i keep being asked to enter an IP. Do i need a dedicated IP to use this plugin? As i don’t have a dedicated IP and on a shared hosting plan, my wordpress install is in the same place as mysql..

any advice would be great?

    Hi there, Darren!

    You’ll need a dedicated IP address. You’ll also probably need a more robust host, a shared server won’t be sufficient for a network large enough to need multiple databases. Most shared hosts also would frown upon a single user in a shared environment attempting to run an extensive network, as you’re going to quickly use more than your share of the server resources. (memory, CPU time, hd space, etc.)

    I’d hold off on trying to install MultiDB until you’ve got the foundation in place to support it, even if you can get a dedicated IP on a shared host. A dedicated server or VPS with a dedicated IP is going to be much more appropriate for your needs.
