USPS does not include shipping cost for in-state?

My business is located in the US. I just had a customer able to select USPS free shipping. I don’t offer free shipping.

The customer resides in the same state as my business.

How did he get free shipping?

    Hey Tim,

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I’ve noticed that you’ve set up the “calculated options” for shipping but “Handling charge for domestic shipment” is set to 0. Also, there’s a maximum weight per package set to 8 pounds but the table includes packages up to 30 pounds. I’m not sure if this is exactly the reason for this behavior but it’s worth dobule-checking.

Despite that, could you please provide me with an order ID of the order in question, so I could check it out?

    Cheers,

    Adam

    Hey Tim,

    Thanks for this explanation.

I've checked the order in question and I've also checked some other MarketPress settings. I'm thinking that I've found the most likely reason for this.

Please take a look at this post:

    https://wpmudev.com/forums/topic/only-usps-shipping-option-in-checkout-is-free-shipping

I've checked the product's settings for the order in question and it turned out that this product is "weightless". Although the plugin do not let customer select "Free shipping" (as you don't offer it), such is applied because given no weight neither the plugin nor the USPS system is able to calculate shipping rate. This wouldn't be an issue with "Table rate" or "Flat rate" shipping.

That said, to fix it please set weight for all the physical goods sold in your store and it should resolve the issue.

Let me know if it helped, please!

    Cheers,

    Adam
