Marketpress 3 Upgrade Breaks SimplePress Child CSS Styling

I recently upgraded from Marketpress version 2.9.6.2 to version 3.0.0.x, about 2 weeks ago (so it would have been whatever revision was current at that time).

My theme is Simplemarket version: 1.1.1.5, and I’ve created a child theme that consists of a CSS file containing some pretty extensive customizations, primarily to the heading & menu font styles, paddings and margins, and image placement on product pages.

When I did the Marketpress 3 upgrade, it completely screwed up my theme. In my sidebar, fonts were resized and paddings / margins were obliterated, making everything look very amateur and unfinished, not to mention confusing for anyone trying to navigate the site.

And my product pages were just a complete mess from top to bottom, on so many levels. I can’t even describe what went wrong there.

I know that some of the database issues (i.e. disappearing prices, SKUs, images, etc.) are going to be fixed in the next Marketpress plugin update. But I’m confused as to why the plugin upgrade would affect my theme. The plugin itself shouldn’t even touch the Simplemarket parent theme or my child theme, correct?

Any ideas? There are several new features I would LOVE to take advantage of, but I really don’t want to have to go through the entire site and re-write all the CSS customizations.

I’ve rolled back to a previous “Snapshot” backup, so the current version of the site doesn’t display any of the theme issues. I was considering creating a separate test site to explore further, but I don’t want to waste a lot of time trying to hack the site back together if the CSS issue is something that’s going to be fixed in a future update.

I also considered that maybe I just need to copy ALL the CSS from the Simplemarket parent theme into the child theme CSS file. Right now, the child theme only contains the customizations, NOT the entire parent CSS file.

But again, I’m confused as to why a plugin update would affect my theme settings, so I’m hesitant to make any changes to my theme until I have further information as to what the cause may be.

SO… My main question here is, does the Marketpress 3 upgrade change the theme CSS, and if so, why? And is there any way to prevent it, so I can keep my current theme and ONLY get the new features of Marketpress 3 with NO theme changes?

Thank you!

    Hello @Veronica J. Kirchoff

    Welcome to WPMU community!

I hope you are well today and thanks for asking the question.

Yes, we have a little incompatibility issues with older themes and MarkerPress 3.0. Our developer is working on the fix and very soon update of the themes will be released to overcome these issues. We appreciate your patience on this.

    Cheers
