Updating Plugins – givevs folder permission error

Hello Team Tights.

OK – so i’m trying to update Marketpress & Dashboard, and they drop the site into maintenance for a while, and then fix themselves, to come up un-updated.

I had the same waffle on another site, where i took all the plugins out, cleared the upgrade folder, and moved the plugins back in. No idea if that did anything, but I managed to get the site back up.

The error that shows up in the fancy red stripe at the top says “maybe folder permissions”.

    Hello Symi,

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I tried to access the site but unfortunately it doesn’t let me in. Despite the fact that it seems that the access is granted I’m getting redirected to the regular WP login page and this usually means that there’s some kind of additional security level implemented (a security plugin protecting login or similar solution). Do you think you could temporarily disable it so I could access the site?

Before you do this however, please access your site via FTP (or cPanel’s File Manager tool) and check what permissions are set for following folders:

    /wp-content/

    /wp-content/plugins/

    /wp-content/plugins/wpmudev-updates/

    /wp-content/plugins/marketpress

Could you please let me know about it?

    Best regards,

    Adam
