Setup Domain Mapping

I need help setting up domain mapping for MU sites. Is there a manual? The WPMUDEV web pages just say how great the plug in is, but there are no instructions for how to set it up and actually make it work.

Hello Kevin , I hope you are doing well today!

The Domain Mapping instructions can be found on the plugin’s Usage page.

First, please add the following line to your wp-config.php file:

    define( 'SUNRISE', 'on' );

Right above the /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ line.

Next step is to move the sunrise.php file from /wp-content/plugins/domain-mapping/ to /wp-content/ folder.

I hope this will help. Please read the instructions from the Usage page, and you have any other questions or you need any assistance, please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Nastia

Ok. I made those two changes and I still see the following when I select Settings | Domain Mapping:

You use old version of /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/sunrise.php file. Please, replace that file with new version which is located by following path: /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/domain-mapping/sunrise.php.

I see what’s happening but I don’t know why: any change I make to a file (edit, copy, delete) is undone by the server. Original files are restored within seconds of any modification. I have no idea what’s causing that.

    Hello there Kevin

I’d like to have a closer look at the situation here, could you please send in the following via our secure contact form?

    – Mark to my attention, the subject line should contain only: ATTN: Nastia

    – Do not include anything else in the subject line, doing so may delay our response due to how email filtering works.

    – Link back to this thread

    – Include WordPress admin access details (login address, username & password)

    – Include FTP log-in details (hostname, username & password)

    – Include any relevant URLs for your site

IMPORTANT: Please make sure you select “I have a different question” for your topic, so it doesn’t go back to the forums – this and the subject line ensure that it gets assigned to me.

I am waiting for your email.

    Kind regards,

    Nastia

    Nastia,

I think I’m too much of a newbie here to know exactly what I’m doing. I need to loop you in on the new WP multi-site testing environment I’m using. Someone here told me today that I don’t even need domain mapping for what I’m trying to do. So, let’s back track. I’ll get WPMUDEV on the new instance and give you access. Look for a follow up email tomorrow.
