plugin to deal with fake news on buddypress sites

Hi,

Are there any tools/techniques/plugins that can be used to deal with fake news on buddypress sites? We’re working on a social site for a client and they want to deal with this issue.

    fake news is not spam, and there was a lot of discussion about it on FB (about posting fake news on the US presidential candidates during the election, etc), there is also a lot of “viral” sensational breaking news example on science field. anyway!

    I guess the was to react to this is however the same as spam, but it can’t really be automated, as there is no, for now and as far as I know, shared database collection of fake news senders…

    IMO, the best is to allow people to report, and it send the topic into moderation.

    hasn’t been updated recently, and might be abandoned.

    Will BBPress also be installed on the site? if yes I guess there must be some moderation tools available.

    Is WPMUDev’s https://wpmudev.com/project/moderation/ only for comments? or also working for BuddyPress and BBPress?

    So basically, if anyone here knows better than I do… :wink:

    Thanks for chiming in! (some here points heading your way)

    I wasn’t sure if that was about fake news related to facebook recent issue – as it would be super hard to know what is fake and whats not automatically, so I assumed that is about spam.

    Is WPMUDev’s https://wpmudev.com/project/moderation/ only for comments? or also working for BuddyPress and BBPress?

    No, its for posts and comments and also full blogs – so each of those can be reported as “spam”. But it also could be used for reporting a fake news. But no BuddyPress and bbPress integration :slight_frown:
