Header files stopped loading

So, I went to work on my website and noticed many things are not loading fully. It seems mostly header files.

So I restored the back up from last night (performed by hosting)

And still no luck. Is it possible there is a database connection issue or something?

    Hi Nathan,

Thank you for contacting WPMU DEV Support. Hope you are doing well today.

I checked your site and can see the files are getting loaded, however, the homepage of your site looks distorted. This might be caused because of some plugin/theme conflict which happens generally on installing or updating plugins/themes. Please run a conflict test as mentioned in this flowchart: https://wpmudev.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif

You can read more about plugin conflict in https://wpmudev.com/blog/wordpress-plugin-conflicts-how-to-check-for-them-and-what-to-do/

Note: Before performing the conflict test, please take a backup of your complete site so as to be on a safer side.

Additionally, I would like to update you that this won’t be a database connection issue. If it would have been a database connection issue then there would be an error shown instead of displaying the homepage.

Please do have a recheck and let me know how it goes.

    Best,

    Aditya Shah

      • Getting there

Hi. I performed the plugin conflict, as well as reverting to default theme and back. I did not think it was any problems with any plugins.

The site was in great shape yesterday and early this morning. I did no updates since then either. It was suddenly out of the blue this happened.

    Hi Nathan,

I would like to update you that the issue occurred because of the version of PHP which was updated to 7.3 by our Engineers to all our hosting droplets. It seems like your code is not ready for PHP version 7.3 so, we have changed the version of PHP for your site to version 7.2 which seems to have resolved the issue. Can you check and confirm us here?

Also, I would like to request you to update your code or ask your theme developer to do so in order to avoid any such issues in the future.

    Best,

    Aditya Shah

    Hi Nathan,

    Thank you for getting back.

I understand that at the moment not everyone is ready for PHP 7.3, and so we have changed the PHP version back to 7.2 for our users facing issues.

About including the option to change the version of PHP in the hosting dashboard, our developers are already working to make this possible.

At the moment, we don’t have an exact estimated time for this option to get included, but our developers are aware of this and are currently working hard to get the option included in “The Hub”.

I’m sorry once again for the inconvenience here!

    Best,

    Aditya Shah

    Hi Nathan,

I would like to inform you that changing the PHP version is now possible from The Hub. Please visit https://wpmudev.com/hub/hosting/ click manage using the 3 dots next to your domain name then under "tools tab" you can see the option to change the version of PHP.

Please change it from there and do have a recheck if your site is working fine. Also, please let me know if you encounter any further issues.

    Best,
