[Shipper Pro] How does Shipper work exactly? Why does it take so long?

I decided to try Shipper Pro to move a development site demo.osyc.com live to http://www.osyc.com and was shocked to see that the estimated time was 7 to 11 HOURS for the transfer. The two sites are on the SAME DEDICATED SERVER.

The site is less than 600 MB and I’ve usually moved sites like that in about 30 minutes total using duplicator or even just manually copying the files and database and then using search and replace to fix URL’s.

Just wondering if this is a glitch or if Shipper Pro is really this slow.

    Hi Damon ,

I do understand your concern, what the plugin does is it’ll gather all the files, and database and will pack it up for Export. The time estimate entirely depends upon the server resources the websites are allocated and the environment on which the Shipper process it’s each task.

The time frame would vary from one site to another. Did you mean the Duplicator takes around 30 minutes with the current website or in general?

Checking the Shipper logs under Shipper > Tools, should give a better idea regarding if there are any aspects that need attention or whether the 7-11 hours is the exact estimate.

Could you please grant support staff access on both the source and destination website so that we could have a better idea. You can grant access from WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access, or check this manual: https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

Please let us know once you enable access so that we could check further regarding what could be to improve the migration process.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin
