[Smush Pro] All my theme options get reset when bulk compress

Hi. Im trying pro features. I used to have installed Lktespeed cache with an own image oprimizer (by API). I had all images reduced, but i didn’t like results, my web was too slow. So i decided to go back to my old friend w3 total cache plugin and reduce images with Smush.
But i have 2 bad experience. First time was before installing Smush. That was when i ran image compression from WP Optimize (wich say it uses Smush service). My site got broken and i went to appearence —> Theme options and options had been restored to default like fresh theme installation. So i stopped the process and immediately restored a database backup.
Then i download Smush and follow steps to start free trial. I made a backup and started process to compress images. And exactly the same happened. Everything erased, all broken, the Theme Owner’s logos in my home, broken shortcodes, empty options in theme options..
In both caes i decided to stop the process, was very long time with the website broken. I think as an option to reinstall LiteSpeed cache and restore the images to original sizes and delete uninstall again the plugin, but im not sure the issue comes from there, because what is being erased are theme options, not just images.

Thank you for your help. If we find a solution, i have much sites to bring to the service

    Hello Agro Núcleo

I really can’t tell why this happened, as Smush API doesn’t interfere with themeing at all.

What Bulk Smush is doing is the following:
    – sends all selected thumbnails of an image found in Media library to Smush servers
    – each thumbnail version of the image is getting optimized based on Smush settings on site
    – all optimized thumbnails are sent back to the server, in the same path from where it was taken from, overriding the older unoptimized thumbnails

So as you understand, there’s nothing involving theme options or other settings that are stored in the database.

On the other hand, options like Lazy Load or CDN can bring issues in some cases, and we need to replicate and further troubleshoot this. Please keep in mind that these issues would been with the actual images in the frontend though, nothing related to theme options.
Can you please let me know if you enabled any of these modules?
Please advise on which options you’ve enabled exactly in Smush settings.

Finally, in order to better review this, we’d like to have some access. You can grant temporary support access via the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin. No need to share any WP admin credentials, just navigate in WP admin area under WPMU DEV -> Support -> Support Access page and click on the “grant support access” button. You can find detailed information about it here:
    https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5
Please do reply back here when access is granted because we don’t get any notifications about it.

    Thank you,
    Dimitris

Thanks for your quick answer. You have acces now to the site.

I have enabled lazy load but it doesn´t appear to work. But the issue ocurrs during the compression, im sure of that. In the bulk one. I´m not sure what happens if i wait to the end of this process, but is too long time to have the website broken.

    Hello Agro Núcleo !

Thank you for enabling Support Access to the site!

I did a quick check and I see that all the images that would undergo Lazy Loading from Smush have been lazy loaded (you can see they have a “lazyloaded” class added to the element).

However, on the home page most of the images are loaded in the sliders for each section. Those seem to be already loaded dynamically (lazily) after the page loads, so additional Lazy Loading on them isn’t required as it’s already achieved by the slider. All other available images that are loaded right away undergo the lazy loading process correctly.

I haven’t checked the issue with Bulk Smushing though, as I would like to avoid creating issues with the site. I’ve noticed you’re using a premium theme from ThemeForest and a child theme so I’m not able to replicate the issue right away on my test site.

To test the issue for you, we’d prefer to check it on a staging site, so there’s no interference with your live site. Please let us know if you’re able to provide a copy of this site under a temporary domain on the same server so we can check what exactly is happening there.

Please note that when you have our CDN enabled, you don’t need to run Bulk Smush on the site as the CDN will handle that for you.

If you’re able to provide us with a staging site, please send additional credentials for it so we can log in and run the extended checks.
