[Defender Pro] Defender Pro issues – "The administrator has blocked your IP from accessing th

Hey there! I am having a problem with a site that I recently migrated to WPMU from Flywheel. I am unable to activate the Defender Pro plugin without getting locked out of the site. As soon as I turn on the plugin, a page comes up with this warning, “The administrator has blocked your IP from accessing this website.” When I turn the plugin off in the HUB, I am once again able to access.

I don’t know if it’s relevant or not, but I did transition it to a multisite after migrating.

Any help on fixing this would be super appreciated!

    Hello Julie ,

I hope you are doing well today!

We have an issue reported that is related to it. I have replaced a file in the Defender Pro plugin at path wp-content/pugins/wp-defender/src/traits/ip.php

Please check and let us know if you are still facing the issue.

Also, if the issue persists, can you please grant us Support Access for the site to check it further in detail. You can find more details about granting support access here:

    Hi Julie ,

I checked this further but wasn’t able to replicate the issue at my end. Can you please check if you could still replicate the issue from a different browser?

If the issue still persists, can you please let us know your IP so that we can check and remove the same from the blocklist?

Please also update the plugin to the latest version.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John

I’ve got to add my 5 cents, since i’m facing almost the same issue on my side, so i’ll provide a _temporary_ workaround for this said problem.

You can use any DB editor (or mysql CLI) to delete from tble _your_prefix__defender_lockout your ip, or drop that table alltogther.

As far as i know this is the table of temporary IP bans from defender, and in my case, it helped to restore access to the site from internal network.

Anyway, take my advice with a grain of salt, and only after authorised staff member confirms it’s safe to do so.

    Hi Everyone!

Hope you all doing well! Sorry about the issue, and thank you for your reply Peter

Julie if you still have the issue please let us know and we will be happy to help you with it further, apart from whitelisting your IP for you, we can remove your IP from DB for you just like Peter suggested.

However, a note here please, if you do have the Blocking issues, please be careful when you remove the IPs from DB we highly recommend you have a backup before touching anything in DB. Also, you can reach out to us and we will be happy to help.

As for now, Julie , I see that Defender is deactivated in your multisite Network, please let us know if you need help with providing your current IP address and we will check this further for you.

    Thanks everyone!

    Cheers!
    Youssef

Hello all! Thank you for your assistance. The issue seems to have resolved over the weekend. I’m not sure if the support team fixed the issue or if it resolved itself, but I am grateful!

Peter – Thank you for the suggestion! If this occurs again, I will carefully give it a try.

James – Good luck! I hope you are able to get it resolved soon.
