advice about forums, what is better to do?

Hi!

At present I’m developing my community using WPMU 2.8.6 and BP 1.1.2.

Using the built-in forums component of BP… but I think it’s so simple… i.e. the search is pretty bad, you cant add files (like this forum can), and some other limitations…

So I wonder if it’s better to make a separate install of BBPress and integrate it with BP… it would make the BP forums better?.

What do you think guys?, what option did you choosen?, how is running here at WPMUDEV?

We use bbPress integrated with regular WordPress for this site.

The bp forums are really designed around groups. If you have a forum that is more visible and applies to everyone you could tack on a seperate install of bbPress.

So, if I need group admins to take control over the group’s forum is better to use the bp-forums component instead of a bbpress complete installation and integrated in BP?.

You could always do both. Let BuddyPress setup it’s internal bbPress install for the group stuff and then you can setup a full bbPress install for general forums.

    Thanks,
