[Bluehost Plugins] How to delete old Bluehost Plugins

I transferred from Bluehost to WPMUDev and it’s been great here with you, but I noticed i still have some plugins on all 3 of my sites that I think are from Bluehost. The problem is that they are classified as ‘must-use’ so I can’t delete them from WP Plugins page and I don’t know how to access the File Manager at WPMUDev so I’m not sure what to do.

Do we have access to C-Panel File Manager here at WPMUDev? If not can you tell me if the following plugins are really ‘must-use’ for me?
1. Endurance Browser Cache by Mike Hansen
2. Endurance Page Cache by Mike Hansen
3. Endurance PHP Edge by Mike Hansen
4. SSO by Mike Hansen

Thanks for your help.

    Hi Mike,

Let me start by explaining Must Use plugins, the name doesn’t actually mean that they must be used on site to have the site running, but it’s rather a name used by WordPress itself and the plugins placed in mu-plugins folder will be always active, while they are there, there’s no option to deactivate them from WP.

In order to disable these plugins, you will need to remove them completely from the server.
WPMU DEV hosting doesn’t have cPanel but we provide both SFTP and SSH file access so you can use either to remove those plugins.
I would suggest using SFTP and access the files via UI like FileZilla instead of SSH and accessing through a terminal, while many prefer SSH it’s not needed to learn it for something like this.

First thing you need to do is create new SFTP account and you can do that by going to https://wpmudev.com/hub/hosting/ manage your site and switch to SFTP/SSH tab where you can create new account.

Use that account to access your files via FileZilla or a similar app.
Once you have accessed your files navigate to /site/public_html/wp-content/mu-plugins folder where you will find all of your mu-plugins.

Now, about the plugins you listed:
    1. Endurance Browser Cache by Mike Hansen
Not needed anymore as Browser Cache is handled by our servers and Hummingbird.

    2. Endurance Page Cache by Mike Hansen
Similar to the above, this is handled by Hummingbird.

    3. Endurance PHP Edge by Mike Hansen
This one is used to make sure you’re on the latest PHP version, it’s not needed as our servers are already at the latest PHP version.

    4. SSO by Mike Hansen
This one I’m not completely sure about and what it does, from the name I would say it’s a Single Sign On plugin, but those are mostly used in multisite installations, and since you have single sites there’s probably no use of this and you can remove it as well.

    Hope this helps

    Best regards,
