Close Popup Pro Either After Click to New Window or Time (5 Seconds)

I have a popup with an image that is linked to an external website that opens in a new window. Afer the person click on the popup, I would like the popup to close or close after some period of time, like 5 seconds.

you will need to change #youlinkid to your image link ID (or class, if you are using classes – so it will be .youlinkclass).

I actually modified it a bit and put it directly in the page. Here is what I ended up doing.

jQuery(function($){

$(document).ready(function(){

//5000 is the number of milliseconds (or 10 seconds) that you want to wait before redirection.

var delay = 10000;

setTimeout(function() {

$(‘.wdpu-close’:wink:.trigger( “click” );

}, delay);

})

});

Craig- thanks for posting your solution. I am trying to use it in a pop up and I can’t seem to get it to work. I used your code and the <script> line from Kasia Swiderska, and put it right in the html for the popup, but could not get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Kasia,

With my code, I put it in the page where the popup triggered from, and not in the popup itself. All it’s basically doing is clicking the close button in the upper right corner (.wdpu-close) for the person after X milliseconds. Everything pretty straightforward javascript.

That is PHP script that adds jQuery script to footer of your site – it cannot be added to PopUp content.

You can add it also as MU plugin http://wpmudev.com/manuals/wpmu-manual-2/using-mu-plugins/
