Defender bug causing lock out warnings

I got this email from my client:

“Your account has been locked due to an excessive number of unsuccessful login attempts.” After chatting with WPEngine support, we learned that WP-Defender was acting up. The tech did a backup then disabled the plugin. He also cleared the cache in case it cached some code as well.

Just thought you guys would want to know this.

On my Homepage when you’re not logged in, WP-Defender is showing that you were locked out.

But the user is not locked out and when he browser a further URL the site works. Just the Main Homepage doesn’t work.

Hope that WPMU Dev will fix it soon.

    markcy,

It can happen when your user wrong to input their password for 5 times or so, and he will be locked out for a while (default is 5 minutes). You can turn this feature off or update the attempt amount/expire time in WP Defender->Ip Lockout

Some cache will cache your page as html, and deserve that to user. So if you have dynamic content, then please turn off that html cache. Personally I only use opcache feature and that more than enough to make a normal site run smoothly.

    Best regards,
