[Defender Pro] AWS-SES/Defender Pro conflict

When we enabled the AWS SES emailing service, our system was not sending any emails. Not the password resets, not the registrations, not the forms. By turning off all plugins and turning them on one by one, we determined there was a conflict with Defender Pro. On ce I disabled it, all started working properly. Can you guys shed some light on how to fix this? I would really like to keep on using Defender.

    Hi gediweb ,

Most probably one of the security tweaks enabled might be causing a conflict. Since AWS SES is a premium service there isn’t much we could check regarding its workflow. Would recommend you to deactivate the Security Tweaks enabled in the Defender Pro plugin, under Defender Pro > Security Tweaks and then check whether it works fine.

If yes, would recommend you to enable the tweaks one by one and see on activating which exact tweak the AWS SES doesn’t work so that it would give a better idea regarding the issue.

If you still have issues even after that, then does the service have any unique IP? If yes, please do share that too, and enable support access so that we could give a closer look.

Please do let us know how disabling the tweaks goes so that we could check further if needed. You can grant access from WPMU DEV > Support > Support Access > Grant Access, or check this manual: https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

Please let us know once you enable access so that we could give a closer look if needed. Have a nice weekend.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

So I think it was the opposite. There were a bunch of security tweaks that needed to be made… When I made them, I deactivated and reactivated Defender Pro it started working. Go Figure. Not sure if it was making the security tweaks or turning it off and on that did the trick.

Also FYI when I go to Defender Pro > Security Tweaks, I cannot deactivate anything. There are “resolved items” but unless I know where those changes were made, go into the files themselves and change, I cannot turn off security tweaks to test.

Well, it works for the time being. will keep an eye on it.

Yes, do understand. Not all settings could be disabled. It depends upon the server on what could be disabled. In general, you should be able to notice options to revert most of the settings which are marked as resolved under Defender Pro > Security Tweaks > Resolved

Since its already working for you, do let us know if you happen to replicate the issue again so that we could check further.
