Directory Plugin, PreApproved Tags Only

I have it installed per the “Get Started”, but am not seeing the tags that I have set up. I want categories to be niches, and tags to be all geographical locations. E.g., one would start with “Visas” in categories and then select “Quito” as a tag and get all the people doing visa work in Quito. Is this good planning? If no, can you recommend better? if this is good planning, could you advise me on how to get my tags to show up? Here is a video showing exactly what I am bumping up against: http://screencast.com/t/hSkKiq4fL

Thanks!

    hiya

    thanks for posting.

i’m not sure if that’s possible.

though i am unsure myself how to get the tags showing as i seem to have the same issue. but i’m pretty sure there isn’t a way to prevent users adding their own tags.

let me just check this with the developer.

    thanks

Tags are meant to be added to by users. You could set it so they can’t add tags, but then how would they know what tags exist to chose from?

What you need to do since you like the way the categories work is to add another custom taxonomy that acts like a category but contains your location list. Then you’ll have checkboxes like the other one.

You have an example in CustomPress> Content Types > Taxonomies : listing_category. Hierarchical taxonomies act like categories non-hierarchical act like tags.

Make another custom taxonomy like that and call it whatever you want, say listing_location and it will show up on the edit page.
