Does Paypal have an issue with donations through Fundraiser?

I recently integrated the Fundraiser plugin with a client’s website. He is trying to raise some money for a theatrical project. I chose the type Simple Donation since the crowdsourcing model of charging only after the goals is reached is not what he wants. I changed the word ‘donation’ to ‘contribution’ in the web page since these are not exactly donations.

The moment the first contributor tried to make a payment, the account was blocked and my client was told that it was because of the use of the word ‘donation’. They say it could be because the contributor may have used the word somewhere, but we’re not sure.

Do you know if this could be because of something the plugin does? Is there a way to get around it?

    Hi there @Ashish

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

I’m afraid I don’t know of a way around this, does your client have a business paypal account? If he does, get him to send PayPal an email explaining he wants to take donations etc and they should be fine with it, and allow it on his account.

But as set out in the PayPal Terms Of Service, permission must be sought to accept donations

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards

    Jack.
