E-mails account for the domains of my multisite

Hi,

I hope you are well today

I have a multisite install and I use domain mapping to allow a custom domain for each subsite.

However, I do not know how to create e-mails for each domain. I’ve read about the google company email service, but it is very expensive. I think it is what the wix.com adopts (Am I correct?).

Please, any suggetion about how to solve my problem?

Thanks a lot.

    Thanks for helping me Ari.

    My hosting company is http://www.locaweb.com.br

It offers emails, but they are only for the same project install. For instance, as I have a multisite install and it is located in one project install, I can only create email for the main site. I cannot create emails for diferent domains.

In my hosting, where the multisite is installed, I have to manually insert the domain of each subsite to make it work. Do you think it can cause problems to create email by other emails companies?

    Hello again @Andreza,

Since you already have emails on your hosting you can ignore my previous link. It’s basically the same thing…

No matter where you go, you will have to manually create email addresses.

The only way I can think of to make this work the way you want it (email addresses created automatically) would be to use Google Apps for business and write a lot of custom code to take advantage of their provisioning API.

    Cheers,

    Ari.

    1) Ari, the emails can be created manually, no problems with it. The problem is that I can not create emails for each subsite bymyself, I want the subsite users do it. So, they will not create the emails in my hosting (as wix.com does). For instance, the user can register his domain in godaddy, I will host his subsite in my hosting company (in my network) and he can host his email in another place. I want this. I have heard about MX register… but I do not understand these things very well.

    2) I was thinking about create an email server to the subsite users create their emails. But I’m not expert with it. Is it a good idea or I’m wrong?

    3) I would pay someone to implement a solution for me. If there is a solution to automatically create those emails, it would be very good, but manually is wellcome also. But first of all, I need the directions of what I should do.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi @Andreza,

    Hope you are well today!

This is exactly what you do with the domain mapping plugin. You just tell your users to create an A record for your IP address.

This doesn’t change anything else, they can still manage their emails on their own host. If they don’t like that, and want to use something like Google Apps, they can do so by pointing their MX records to Google Apps.

If you also want to provide them email hosting, you can have your own email hosting and ask them to point their MX records to your hosting, just like Google. This is something that you email hosting provider can help you better with.

    I hope this helps.

How can I have my own email hosting? Do I have to create a email server? I do not want to use my network hosting.

    Thanks for helping me.

    Hi @Andreza,

Most hosting service providers also sell email hosting. I won’t be able to recommend any but, a quick google search for email hosting throws up a large number of results:

    https://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu-browser&es_sm=93&q=email+hosting&oq=email+hosting&gs_l=serp.3..35i39j0i7i30l6j0i20j0i7i30l2.10461.11036.0.11543.5.3.0.0.0.0.267.484.2-2.2.0….0…1c.1.45.serp..3.2.482.39dh9MzAr84

I’m sure there would be some well reviewed email hosting providers, if we look in more details.
