Facebook application permissions for comments plug

Hey, when someone logs in via Facebook the application asks for too many permissions – first for personal information, then to post to friends on Facebook.

How can I limit the personal info it asks for?

    Are you using any additional add-ons?

    Also, is this a facebook app that you’ve already used for something else? Maybe these are just permissions left over from something else. If you go to the app on facebook from the developers site, you can check the permissions. Click the permissions tab from the menu, and see if any extended permissions have been created.

    Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your response. I just checked and the only Facebook featured image and mailchimp add-ons are active.

    I’ve never used this app for anything else before – created freshly for this. And there are no extended permissions on the FB app.

    Anything else I can do to fix this?

    I’ve just tested this with a different account, and it’s only asking for some basic permissions:

    public profile

    friend list

    email address

    News Feed

    Comments Plus also asks if a user would like to grant the ability to write to their wall. However, they are allowed to skip this. This option is needed because the plugin has an option for “post my comment to my facebook wall” when you make a comment.

    Do the permissions above look right to you? Are you trying to limit it even further, or do you see any extras?

    Yes, you are right. There were some problems with the app I was using. I created a new app instead and it works perfectly. Just asks for the same information you put above. I think there was some problem at my end.
