Featured Images Are Being Saved at a New Location … and now they don't display

I’m having a problem with the way my featured images are displaying … and I think it has something to do with their location.

Those that display properly have this url structure:

http://riptide.wearabl.com/files/2012/12/hella-heart-sf-300×300.png

Those that don’t, have this url structure:

http://riptide.wearabl.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/elephant-green-300×300.jpeg

Can anyone tell me what’s going on here?

Did you move from standalone to Multisite WordPress? The first url is what would be generated by Multisite. The second is what’s generated by standalone.

If that’s the case you’ll need to copy them up to the Multisite blog_dir depending on what site id they belong to.

Well if you change

It finds the image. In Multisite if you upload an image to the primary site it goes in /uploads/. If you upload to any other site it goes to /wp-content/blogs.dir/2/files/ if it’s site 2 for example.

WordPress then does a redirect from “/files/” in the url to “/blogs.dir/2/file”

So it could be that the image was uploaded to the wrong blog, or it could be that some plugin is damaging the redirect.

Images are appearing properly now!

The shopping cart thumbnail images are still missing however. The URL seems to share the same issue you mentioned, regarding "uploads" …

This image works well on the product page, as well as on the grid-view the whole collection of products … and I'm guessing it's because it's found here:

In addition to the shopping cart thumbnail not appearing, the image I've selected to display in the sidebar below the shopping cart widget is missing … but only on marketpress related pages..

The image appears fine while viewing the about page or blog, but it fails to display when viewing any of the following:

I'll talk to my hosting provider (wpmu hosting!) regarding the URL issues, but wondered if you might have insight on the absent thumbnails / sidebar image.

You might try rebuilding your permalinks. Just go into permalinks and save them again in each site. Since it seems to be a redirect problem, that’s where the redirects are decided.

Okay, done.

Images in the sidebar remain missing though. The URLs of the shopping cart thumbnails aren’t being rewritten from:

http://riptide.wearabl.com/store/products/typerider/wp-content/uploads//2012/12/hella-heart-sf-300×300.png

I’m curious why there’s a double slash in the URL, and whether or not that can be used to pinpoint and fix the issue preventing the redirect.

Is there a piece of code I can identify in the marketpress plugin and update if necessary?

I forgot to mention that inserting the proper file manually using a text widget displays the image just fine …

Yet, when using the Image Widget (plugin) to enable users to add a sidebar image with ease, which enables them to select an image from the media gallery, the URL isn't redirected for proper display.

Can I get you tosend me an admin and FTP login for your site? Send it to Arnold at incsub dot com.

WordPress has apparently changed their multisite upload scheme as I explained above. If ou do a new Multisite install now. it makes a /uploads/site/2/ directory for new file instead of the old blogs.dir scheme. But they have to be compatible with old installs so if they see the old style they use it.

This can be confusing :slight_smile:

I want to see what all is happening on your site.
