[Hosting] Enabling GMP extension

Hi there,
Could you please help me enable GMP extension? I don’t know how to do it and one of my plugin requires it.

    Hi Nawfel ,

    Hope you are doing good today.

    I am afraid it won’t possible in our hosting environment to enable GMP extension. Because there is a possibility it will break our hosting environment in regards to PHP packages conflict. As a result, we are not in a position to enable the extension. I’m really sorry about this.

    You can have a look here for more info about the PHP extensions that are enabled by default on all hosted sites.

    I recommend you contact the plugin author to check if there is any other way instead of the GMP extension.

    First, thank you for your explanation.

    I followed your instruction and asked the plugin’s autheor: DaftPlug. They replied:

    Unfortunately GMP extension is required to be enabled as it’s one of the key things for Push Notifications. Instantify won’t cause any issues with GMP enabled so you can tell them to enable it for you. We have customers using Instantify’s push notifications with WPMU DEV hosting.

    So could you please enable it for me please?

    Expecting you are having a good time.

    I have just rechecked with our hosting team & I am afraid that extension can’t be installed for your site.

    We have customers using Instantify’s push notifications with WPMU DEV hosting.

    Sorry to say that I don’t think we have any members with GMP extension enabled. So, this looks like some sort of misinformation.

    Since we are providing managed WP hosting there is some limitation for installing a custom extension & this is basically for providing constant scaleable hosting. So that our members get the best out of it. I am really sorry about it.

    Thanks again for the prompt reply.

    I am extremely happy with WPMU DEV and really want to keep my multisite here. Unfortunately, Instantly is one of the key components of my offering.

    May I ask you to double check one last time since I would be forced to migrate my multisite to another hosting company :'(

    Hope you are doing well!

    I have double-checked this with our DevOps, and I’m truly sorry that we can’t do much about it, to enable GMP, this can cause some conflicts or so, but what is super clear, is that no one in our hosting have that extension enabled.
    If anyone uses that feature, they might be having some workaround that we don’t know about it, and it should be on the plugin, because servers are exact same for all members.

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    I have confirmed with the plugin author that there is no other way to make their notification system work. So I’ll have to move my website.

    I am happy with my experience with WPMU DEV anyway.
