How to Change File/Folder Permission

How do i change a folder permission to “read”, “write” and “execute”?

Plugin ultimate member needed the modification for upload picture fix.

It seems that this change will revert with the next update/provision of the server, but it shouldn’t affect this, as our hosting is using the same PHP owner and web-root owner (www-data) so we don’t need specific group permissions.

Can you please let me know of the exact error message you’re currently getting?
    Please advise!

    Thank you,
    Dimitris

The problem persist (but actually not WPMU side, probably is plugin side)

    Hello iamJayChong !

That in fact should already be working on our hosting so we need to check further.

Can you grant us temporary Support Access so we can check this out further? Here’s how to do that: https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#enabling-support-access

Also, please share any relevant links and steps on how to replicate the issue, the more detailed the better in this case.

    Kind regards,
    Pawel

    Hello iamJayChong ,

I had this a deep check with the hosting team first and then also checked the plugin settings.
They looked good to me. I found that you have enabled WAF (Web Application Firewall) from the tools section which is blocking the image uploads from the plugin on the profile pages or the pages relating to the plugin pages.

It did work when I turned off the WAF. For now, you can turn off the WAF. In the meanwhile, I have already sent a report of the same to the devs as when I tried checking the WAF logs, I could not see anything blocked though the Nginx logs did state the same. Just so you know, to test this further, please note that the development team would turn ON & OFF the WAF for a few minutes while they try to implement a fix on it. If the image uploads do not work, you know that the team is testing the same. I would have asked them to take the test on a lab site but this could not be replicated on the lab site and seems to be site-specific and needs to be checked from the live site only.

I appreciate your patience here. The hosting team would get back to you about it asap.

    Regards,
    Prathamesh Palve

    Hi iamJayChong

Hope you are doing well.

Our team is still investigating the issue but the support access for the site has been revoked, could you please grant support access again so we could check the issue further?
You can learn how to grant WPMU DEV Support Access at the following link: https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-5

Additionally, it would be great if you could send WP credentials by using our secure contact form: https://wpmudev.com/contact/#i-have-a-different-question
    – To Mark to my attention, the subject line should contain only: ATTN: Aditya Shah
    -WordPress admin username
    -WordPress admin password
    -login url

    Dear all supports,

Despite the WAF is the key issue to the plugin and my website need to live asap. Allow me to turn it off and all necessary changes shall be made at staging site onwards.

Aditya i did granted the access but please advice do i need to granted access on staging site?

    Hi iamJayChong

Sure you can turn off the WAF, for now, to make the site live. However, the WAF doesn’t work on the staging site resulting won’t be helping to debug there.

Would it be fine if we can turn ON the waf just for the time we test things and then turn OFF when done?
Alternatively, we can make a clone of your site on one of our test site and then debug there if that is fine with you?

Please let us know your views.

    Aditya :

Thank you so much for your response and i’m very sorry that i can’t effort to turn off the WAF even for just 5 minutes as the website will be flooded with expected 10,000 visitors around Asia starting today to Sunday.

However, we’re totally fine if you need to clone the site to do testing on other isolated environment.

    Hi iamJayChong

    Hope you are doing well.

The issue was that WAF was failing to parse request body that could be due to malformed request, and Multipart request body was failing strict validation. We have disabled that rule for now on your site and WAF is Active.

Please let us know incase you still need any assistance.

    Best Regards,
    Rahul
