Hi, I was having problems with my website loading.I finally got my website to load. However the hosting company said that the plugins where the problem. They had me go into my database and remove the plugin codes. After I did this my site started loading properly. What should I do now? I don’t have any plugins activated and I don’t know which one was causing the problem.

    hiya

    thanks for the post.

how many plugins did you initially have installed?

to find if a plugin is causing an issue, activate each plugin 1 by 1, if the problem occurs after activating a plugin, then you know which 1 is at fault.

could you tell me what changes you made into the DB also.

    thanks.

Hi, Here are the instructions that I followed from my web hosting company to disable my plugins:

I had an admin look into the issue and it looks like one of your plugins

is causing the issue. Please disable all of them via the database, so you

can gain access to your site. If you need assistance, please follow the

    instructions here:

    http://perishablepress.com/quickly-disable-or-enable-all-wordpress-plugins-via-the-database/

I activated my Buddypress plugin and the site is not loading again. I guess that’s where the problem is. What should I do know? Thanks again for your assistance!

    Hi Cleva,

Just thought i would pop in here, the staff are mid conference, so there may be some delays. I am sure @Vaughan will be back on this thread soon, i was going to reccomend that you enable plug ins one at a time, but i see that you did that and found buddypress is the problem.

I don’t know much about buddy press myself so can’t be much help.

    hiya

    sorry for the delay.

that article is 5 years old & is way out of date.

the way to deactivate plugins is to use FTP, then navigate to wp-content/plugins

then you can either rename each plugin temporarily ie. rename membership to membership-temp

alternatively, navigate to wp-content then rename the plugins folder to plugins-old

then create a new folder called plugins. you should then be able to visit your dashboard.

you can then copy each plugin from the plugins-old folder 1 by 1 activating each time till the problem occurs.

let us know how that goes.

    thanks.

    @Vaughan

Cleva mentioned that when the buddypress plug in is turned on the problem exists, and when it is deactivated the problem goes away.

I am not at all familiar with buddy press, so don’t know where to look next.

But it does seem to be someing with buddypress.
