Issues with global DNS resolution

I recently switched to WPMU as my host, and I think there maybe some issues with global DNS resolution.

Its been just over 48 hours since I changed all my A records, AAAA records and CNAME. The site works ok for me on my pc, but some of the DNS checker tools (Ive been using a few) still show it unresolved in some areas of the world.

As a sanity check, I just typed in my IP address into my browser,

It pops up an error page that you can likely see if you type that into your own browser. it says something about adding the domain, but I have done that and have made it primary.

    Hi Andrew Sparks

    I hope you’re well today!

The change doesn’t really depend on our end/our hosting at all as the domain is only pointing to our host. I checked it now and the site loads for me and all the checkers/testers are showing that DNS is fully propagated and points to correct IPs.

If you didn’t make any changes to DNS since this post was created, it would mean that it just needed some more time. Usually a DNS change takes a few hours and it’s safe to say that the margin is to 24-48 hours in some cases but I’ve seen changes taking even up to 72 hours already.

    Are you still experiencing issues?

    Best regards,
    Adam

HI. Yes, there are still some issues and some things unresolved around the world. It depends on which DNS checker I use. These show a few still unresolved. Its been about 60 hours or so now since the switch was made. My site is SparkosLabs.com

    https://www.nexcess.net/web-tools/dns-checker/
    https://www.whatsmydns.net/

Im not sure if its “real” or if it just needs more time to propogate. On My PC here in the USA I started seeing the new site on WPMU hosting within a couple hours but the traffic on my site is global in nature so I want to make sure its available around the world before I do any marketing or anything like that to drive traffic to it.

    Hi Andrew,

I did some additional tests of your domain, first was with https://www.uptrends.com/tools/uptime and all of the locations worked there.

So then I checked with the above two linked sites and whatsmydns.net reported Turkey as only one with an issue so I used VPN to change my location to Turkey and it loaded fine.

Then I checked with nexcess.net which reported no results from Austria, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and South Africa.
I tested each of those locations with VPN as well and all of them loaded the site fine.

I also did tests with https://dnschecker.org/ https://dnsmap.io/ and https://geopeeker.com/ and none of them reported any location as failed, so it seems to me that everything is order and that the issue could be with specific providers used on the sites that you mentioned.

    Best regards,
